on the move again :(sometimes live just sucks
I already posted somewhere that in april I had to move to another home again (from my rented appartement to the one I've bought)
well... it seems like I'm going to move a lot sooner than I expected, unfortunately back to my parents house first
The appartement I now rent was for sale while I rented it (I've even tried to buy it myself in the first month I rented it, but didn't succeed because the owner wanted a lot more money for it than what it's worth)
Last week the owner found someone who wanted to buy it, and now want me out of it a month before the end of the contract (two weeks before I would get the key to my new apartment). Over the last few months that I rented the appartment the owner has proven hisself as a ill-mannered annoying liar, who doesn't want to listen to any sense. He even started to threathen me if I wouldn't get out of the appartment
Eventhough I could probably get my right with a lawyer (I have everything on paper and there are a lot of laws in the Netherlands to protect renters) I will probably leave the place in two weeks (6 weeks before he wants me to leave). Being right and getting your rights are two different things
The only thing I now want is to get rid of any connection I have to the appartment owner.
I hope I didn't bore you too much with this story, just had to post it somewhere
At least you'll know what's going on if you're missing me here for a while again.

... you're not boring us, Erik! I can feel with you; been through something similar a while back. Keep your cool, and in a few weeks it'll be history.
Kopf hoch, mein Freund!

Sorry to hear about your problems, all these moves will not help your pursuit of your steam hobby.
I trust that you get your deposit back intact. Sounds like you rented direct and not through an agency.
I had a similar experience where I dealt with the owner direct, and not through an agency. Ended up losing my deposit. So always used an agency since then, and I have a flat which has been looked after by an agency who deal with the tenants direct which is really good.
As toxx says, it will all be history soon.

That is a frustration & wouldn't know where to start myself if I had to move so quickly. Hopefully some stuff is still packed & excess disposed of during prior move & won't be so laborious this time The thing I will selfishly regret is not being able to follow your excellent restorations for a while
Hope things go as well & as smoothly as possible & good luck

Thanks for all your kind words.

I indeed rented it directly, a big mistake I now know. The guy i rented it from seemed like a nice guy at first, but now I know he's anything but that.

Sorry to here erikl.
I hate moving and have told my wife we can't ever move again as we now have too much stuff to pack up.
I hope when you finally get to move into your new home it will all be worth it.

I feel for you too, erik. This is the best resolution you can make,
to cut your losses and escape that ill-mannered landlord.
You wouldn't want to be there long term as you already know.
Time will fix you up very quickly. It won't be long and you will gain a stable base of operations.
This is a tough time of life, when young and hopeful--and these things happen. It's not fair.
----
For Erik
I had an elderly friend, my grandmother's best friend.
She took over as grandmother when mine died young.
Once I complained about some aspect of my child's life gone
wrong, 'It's not fair! It's not right.'
I can still hear Bernice,
'Goose! Whoever told you that life is fair?'
The way she said it, with a laugh, was a total comfort
somehow. She had been through it all, all on her own,
then onward for 96 years, unscathed
and well balanced.

thanks.
I'm going to put some of my stuff in one of those self storage places, but i've already brought my steam engines to the safety of my parents home. Wouldn't want to miss them for two months

well, it's done. Most of my stuff is now in a storage box, and the things I need are at my parents home where I will now live for a while.
It took a lot more time that we expected, it was 20:30 before we had time for dinner, so I'm quite tired now. Now I only have to hand over the keys to the owner tomorrow, and probably fight with him for the next few weeks to get my deposit back (at least that's what I expect, even though the place now looks a lot better and cleaner than when I moved there)
I hope I'll have some time left this weekend to do fun things, like working on the SP5 I received today

How's the SP5 look?

SP5 topic is there, but you've seen it already.
Strangest thing happened last saturday, I had to give back the keys to the owner of the apartment, and I realy thought he was going to argue about the deposit I had to get back from him. The week before he vene sugested in a mail that I had top pay for a crack in a window (wich was already there before I got there)
So I wend well prepared, I had a paper that I wanted him to sign (stating that he would repay my whole deposit, without any retractions), I had a printout from the lawbook (with a article stating that if there was not report from before the rent, he could not take anything of the deposit) and I had pictures from before.
He came, looked around, and just signed
Now I'm sure he's schizophrenic
He promised that he would pay me back withing two weeks, but since everything else he told turned out to be a lie... I just have to see. At least I got a signed paper that I can slap him around with.
