Mamodman123

I told 'em to buy a Mamod
James

James

I love the way he says my surname. Makes me sound posh
Wallace

Didn't you guys hear him

"It's that screw at the bottom that's loose"

It's also the fact it doesn't say Mamod on the label

(ok, this is just a light hearted joke)

LMAO. It was very wobbly though. Something let go
SPOKESMAN

Sounds like it needs lube - why do peeps use pliers!!!!
Wallace

They bend things and leave nasty marks!
tmuir

I just got my Steamco today and it comes with a little bottle of oil and the first paragraph in the instructions goes on how important it is to oil.
I'm guessing he didnt read his instructions.

How dare you insinuate I am one of the upper class

Wallace

It might need oil, but it literally breaks.

Watch the flywheel near the end. The whole flywheel, axle and maybe even the axle mounts are wobbly, or loose

Yes I saw it fall apart so it had something seriously wrong with it but atleast if it was oiled it wouldnt of squeaked and creaked like it did.

I love the panic on them all when they saw the flywheel had fallen off and mum who had been sitting in the background jumps in.
Wallace

Yeah there was a bit of panic good value

sorry Prince Charlie
sparky

core something happend there , yes mike i do hate it when people use the pliers aswell it ruins the whole image of the engine sadly
tmuir

To be fair I use a pair of sprung tweezers on my Australian verticles as they get very hot.
But the tweezers apply very little pressure so dont damage the brass.
sparky

yeh i just mean full scale pliers, i use pliers but with the old soft jaws on, no indents made
SPOKESMAN

Just use a cloth! The old preverbial oily rag!

he hasn't got his asebstos fingers yet. I think the engine would have run if they'd put it together properly!

i loved the way the flywheel just span without the rest of the engine when he tried to start it!
MTA

The whistle handle wouldn't have hurt him anyway, seeing as it is plastic It's obvious that the flywheel supports had come loose

Its just that the screws that hold down one of the bearings came off, just need to screw it back on, and re adjust the timing.

well, it just needs to be fiddeled around with, my D16 had to have the timing re-adjusted, just tapped it with a jeweler's screwdriver until it ran the best it could, and then tightened it.
James

They don't have adjustable timing! You can't adjust it at all!
Mamodman123

James wrote:

Thought so

Either way it didn't go well

ITs one of those things that the more you use/run it gets looser and looser and rattles more!
James

Aye! Exactly! I bet the bloke that built it wasn't from Lincolnshire, if he was, he'd have had no problems doing it. Most of us are mechanically minded people
