Phil's First STIA - Photo Heavy -

Well it was touch n go the night before STIA as Paul was going to be the driver but as he lives a lot higher land wise than me and Moose he was having big trouble with even getting his car out and believe me he did try his best - So thanks Paul   .
However late evening Moose came to the rescue and text me to arrange picking me up and true to form him and Daniel Moose arrived and we set off with the roads ect clear and just a few fog patches on the way but traffic wise it is was clear sailing.
Just as we arrived close to the Pumping Station there was a LOT of snow everywhere the roads included but Moose drove on and got us there safe n sound.
We got our table set up in the boiler room all nice and warm then set off to meet other folks and have a look round the Big shed and other places where members had set up BUT then into the Dealers Marque and it was like a little boy in a candy shop.
I met so many members who i had not seen before and as i was sat at our table a guy walked past and i thought i know that HAT and shouted out Miles who turned round and what a great guy he is we chatted for ages then Alex and his dad turned up so i went off with them to have a cuppa and a slice of cake which Alex kindly paid for out of company funds   .
Anyway enough chat and here's the photo's of the day,.

Belt driven workshop at Pumping Station

Yum Yum coal fired chip fan and cooked in Dripping

Cochran Boiler outside the entrance to the boiler house

The MAMMOTH Mamod roller and the gent who made it sat behind the table who i chatted with and he said it took him about a year to complete.

M8dave's Table.

The lovely architecture in the beam house.

Now the rest   .

The meet at  mine n Moose's table.

The pumping station is right nextdoor to the Space centre and hopefully you can just see inside this big bubble there is a rocket n launch pad.

Very nice pics and it was nice to meet you

Thanks for the Show N' Tell, Phil

It certainly seems to have been no shortage of variety in sights and the pumping station itself is such a beauty

Glad you enjoyed your first STIA Phil, nice report and pictures. I tried persuade Sandy to sample the coal fired chips as it wouldn't be STIA without them IMHO.
whistleman

Thank you for sharing your pictures.

It was great to see some of the full sized steam engines and such in addition to the toys and models.

Hi Phil,

It was wonderful to catch up and nick some petty cash for tea and cakes,  my apologies to you and anyone else I met and didn't get back to see,  as I decided to cut the visit short due to Dad being taken poorly.

He sends his apologies as he felt to bad to chat to many folks but looks forward to being well enough for J26.

Great pictures though,  we enjoyed what parts we managed to see,  fell in love with several engines including that ericsson engine on Phil and Odilons table!

So will try again next year.

The pumping station is a cool place even without all of the STIA goodies, thanks for all of the photos. IT looks like you had a good time too
magpie38

Thanks for the update. Agree with RedRyder, those large steam engines are just amazing!
MrMamod

Thanks EVERYONE myself and i know many others had a great time and as it was a bit quieter than normal this made getting around a lot easier.
I think we must all say a BIG thankyou to Fred and his gang at the pumping station as they did a sterling job not only getting the site ready but having to clear so much snow away on Sunday morning to make it safe for everyone to get around the site.
