When you said you had a LGB starter set, you did not say what rolling stock you have - coaches or wagons. The coaches are very German, and thus would not look great behind a Mamod, which is basically Welsh.
I do not have any LGB stock, just Faller E-Train which is a bit smaller I believe.
Ask steamyjim as he has 45mm locos, although I've not seen any of his rolling stock posted on here.

I've got a pic of some Faller coaches behind a Mamod??

the LGB stuff is wicked heavy, the best ive ever got out of a 45mm mamod was two vehicles.

you know I think I will just forget the mamod for now (I hope I dont get burned at the stake for that ) and get a mortimer which I think will go much better with my stock but will make a mamod my next purchase.

No you don't have to love Mamods to be a member here.
I only own two stationary Mamods and I will be selling one soon.
But I do own a te1a, sr1, roadster and Mamod two locos.

good idea
the mamod would baulk at the two LGB coaches unless it was totally uprated. Then it would have no problem.

Sorry, I was just going by your previous posting.

As Tony has said, you don't have to love Mamods to be a member here. So any postings on steam Locomotives are very welcome here, as this forum seems to have been somewhat quiet of late.
Good luck with the Mortimer. We've not seen one on this forum yet I believe, so reading about your experiences with it will be a pleasure.
A Mamod will go well with the IP Eng Locos and stock, so hope you are successful getting one of those in the future.

Thanks mate There website is good just nice to see things in coulour if ya know wot i mean.. Has anyone got any locos from them?

I have Mamod locos running on 45mm gauge. So far all i have is LGB stock aulthough i have a few nice wooden wagons to convert to 45mm.
If you want some nice wagons to go with a Mamod loco id recomend you look into the red tippers LGB do My mamod will pull around around 8 of them. I only have 5 of the tippers but have other wagons of around the same weight and it will pull a train of about 8 if not more
I think the tippers cost about £25

yes I do have some LGB tippers but they will never run on the garden railway as in my mind they are just to big and expensive so I have replaced them with 4 packets of binnie skips which altogether only cost £25 on ebay from a guy with exactly the same first and last name as me (have not got round to building them yet)
the only LGB stock I intend to use regulary are the coaches

OK, i must look into the Binnie tippers. They look great and are very cheap

yes but I would be careful if I where you because them kits are completely plastic and extremely light and may not ride well on your railway best to get 1 and try it first
|
steamyjim
|
Aye, is there any way of ballasting them?
Lead wheights underneath?
|
pauly
|
Theres very little room to do that Im afraid the best solution is to put some removable lead weights in them and cover them with slate or gravel
|
pauly
|
you also may want to replace the plastic wheels with something metal
just a little tip if anyone else on here has LGB tippers I recommend that you replace the big over sized plastic wheels with smaller bachmann big hauler wheels looks and rides much better

Yes I have and I can highly reccemmend something like there punch or lucy locomotives but I suggest that you get the 4 wheel drive chain kit to go with it good service the only time I have had trouble (and I dont mean to do any stirring or uset any body) is when a kit I had ordered had not arrived and when I phoned up I was given a gob full from his wife about how they werent open and how when they werent open how any calls to the shop where redirected to there house phone and that it was for emergencies only apart from that I have not had any real bad experience
why does a model shop need an emergency number
help I.P. 1 of your locomotive kits is trying to kill my husband
once againg not trying to upset any one

I have both the Lucy and the Punch (arriving any day now) and would higly reccomend IP to anyone

ive not had experience with the binnie tippers but i have got five of the slate wagons. they run very well and I find they dont need the extra weight but they do look just right with the Mamods
