piping steamim having a great deal of fun piping steam from my boiler to other models. im about to start doing the same from the boilers of my te s and se3. all that is needed is a t type globe valve threaded to 1/4 bsf and screwed into the whistle bush /insert . i hooked up my minor 1 to my boiler . this is engine is part of my "shelf" collection and im reluctant to use a burner. it sure was good to see it in steam without any damage to paint work. however fittings to do this type of thing are very expensive (more than the cost of the engine!) so ive been making my own. they are very time consuming. for olives im using a small bit of 5/32 ANNEALED! copper pipe on 1/8 copper pipe. im making all my fittings to a standard 1/4 bsf so in a mix and match they will screw into a mamod boiler...a renown boiler..wilesco (i think whistle bush) bowman to name a few. the vid clinton took of my two engines hooked up to my boiler featured these fittings. strange.....ive been so busy making these fittings to "login" when i did i found that a member was selling some very very very cheap!!!!you got a big bargain moose!!! they have been taking me 2 to 3 hrs a peice for one!!! you need at least 3 to four fittings before you can start to "play" with piping steam. its very interesting and has added more depth and enjoyment to our collection.

I was trying to make some olives and had real headaches so gave up and went with flanges and 4 9BA bolts. what did you do for the nut to hold over the olives?

i made some hex bar.... drilled a 1/8 hole then measured a depth and drilled and tapped to 1/4 bsf . i then measured past the depth of the internal thread and cut it off. for the olive... 4 mm of 5/32 soft copper tube (annealed) is plenty. before i put it over the 1/8 pipe..... with a file i filed the edges at each end to a sharp bevel so as to form the seal. really tighten them up to "set" the olive and its done!
