Howdy ya'll

What is the best place to buy pipes from, like copper and brass?

Cheers
Mamodman123

Depends what you want? You mean the mamod stuff or just general copper/brass pipe?

I've had good luck with ebay and my neighborhood plumber.
Is it for general putzing around or for for your Girth monster engine?
James

Naa, remember the homebuilt piston/clylinder/crank/flywheel I bought for £12? I'm gonna turn it into a stationary engine while the lathe is being fixed Need some brass tubing for a boiler and base mounted chimney. And some brass for end caps.

Need to be posted quick cos I'm impatient
Mamodman123

Copper boler? yeah
oldstuff

What tube diameter are you looking for?
James

2inch by 6inch, some for end caps, and some, say, 1 inch by 8 inch for the chimney...

Too bad I don't live next door. I've got it. $12, boiler and caps.
James

If I'm making it out of copper I have the chimney bit, just the boiler to get. Might be able to scrounge some of a neighbour who is a plummer

The thing is, the flywheel/piston/cylinder arew brass. If I made the boiler/chimney out of copper, would it look stupid?
oldstuff

I don't think so, but it's a matter of taste. My latest homemade job has brass
boiler and copper chimney. Plus, Wallace's brother's engine has copper boiler.
James

All brass would just cost too much. I gotta save for this big SE3
Graham-Jilly

I have a large coil of 1/8" coper tube here only problem is australian 1/8" is larger outside diameter than English coper tube

left over from my plumbing days
oldstuff

Plumbing days? What do you do now? You're both too young-looking to be retired.
Graham-Jilly

Good for you, Graham...think I'd have done the same thing.

A few years ago I was pretty heavy into old tube radios and
learned a few cursory repairs. Still got tubes and radios
scattered about. Is your stuff all newer solid state equipment?
