Plans for Meccano Loom

Has anyone got these to hand?

I have them somewhere... but they are in a box full of like 100 Meccano magazines, and I don't want to go through every page of every single one

Thanks!!
Rob

Thanks mate

I just found the lathe in one of the magazines and thought wow

Says it can turn brass

Might be worth a go!!
Rob

yeh it does look ace, although i think it is a bit beyond my meccano set. i might go into town next week and buy some pieces from a collectors shop.
Rob
steamyjim

Scan it in James, would be a nice little project
steamyjim

James you found the lathe one yet?
James

Still after a set of these

Or would be interested in buying a working loom!!

Need one pronto
tmuir

I don't have a full set of loom plans but I do have something in one of my magazines that should give you enough info to make one.
I'll try and remember to dig it out when I get home tonight.
James

Had chance to have a gander yet Tony?
tmuir

Doh forgot, will have a look now,
tmuir

Found it will scan it and upload it tonight.
Wallace

Here ya go James. The copies you sent me.

If you want the scans bigger and you can't enlarge them, let me know and I'll edit this post with larger scans

James

That's bloody grand Wallace, cheers!

Just need them parts now *head spins*

Any advice?

I have plans for a bigger more complex one if you want it still.

No worries.

Advice? Good luck

Seriously though,

It's says set number 8 plus a few parts will build it.

I can't pick the era, but I'd say a Red/Green set number 8 would be the one.

Problem might be the cost.

Does my head in looking at those instructions. Just spent about 4hrs trying to build a 4 speed gearbox and ran into troubles.
Besides, it was turning out bigger than the MEC1
tmuir

Just found my camera but the batteries are flat so have them on charge at the moment.
Wallace if you think that loom is bad wait till I get this one up.
Wallace

I best not look
James

LOL!!

Well I dunno if I'll be able to get me head around this one, never mind a bigger one
steamyjim

Is it a hand loom or a power loom Tony?
tmuir

I can see lots of gears but no motor so I guess hand loom
steamyjim

I think there was one which was a power loom. I do remember one at a watermill in Lyme Regis powered by a handle
steamyjim

Wether thats the plans you have i don't know though.

But if it has gears and things it should be a power loom

Camera is charged now so tomorrow I will take photos and put them up.

Thanks Tony!

Any model that is powered by handle, regardless of gears or not can easily be adapted to suit and engine or motor
steamyjim

Aye i know that Wallace, just wasn't sure if this was the set of plans Tony had
Wallace

Ahh ok
James

Well if this works I'll drive it by the Bowman M101
steamyjim

What about the Fleishmann?
James

Oh yeah I forgot about that
steamyjim

I think a D32 would power it nicely
Bubba

Steve_S

I think that could certainly be made from Meccano. It's very similar stuff.
James

I missed that post there!!

Looks real good!! But would it be able to weave wool properly? ?
James

Started making the Meccano one now!
steamyjim

Is that the one Wallace posted up James?
Wallace

James, for some reason PB is playing up so can't see the plans and I can't be bothered to go look for them here

But I remember special extra parts being needed. Said it in the text of the plans.

Was this one of them??

Part 101?

Here's some on ebay. Not saying to buy them, but might be able to make them yourself.

I'm thinking there must have been a proper Meccano plans loom (by meccano) for them to bring that part out
James

Dunno what that's for amte, but expensive

I know I need a shuttle! Well I should!
Wallace

No idea mate. I wouldn't buy them, but make them if you need to.

I'll check it out tomorrow

Only came across them by accident the other day
tmuir

If you got the cash buy this one.

That's great Ralph... just goes to show what Meccano can do. I gather from your comments that you have plans (intentions) for a bigger one?

Great stuff: Not only a model but it can really do some serious work!  I like the idea that James thinks about what he can do with the whool of his flock of sheep !
