I use both hand and tools to polish...
Somewhat depending on the job

I do not polish, I get the other half to do it.

Bit of both really, Brasso buffs up great with a pad in the Dremmel.
Other polish is available

Maas or Semichrome by hand

Normally by hand only. Brass makes a poor mirror.

If i am polishing by hand then i use Brasso but if it is a BIGGER job then i use the polish sticks on the lathe which i fit polishing mops to.

SimiChrome or Maas, hand polished only since most of my boilers are nickel plated brass and it's too easy to machine polish right thru that finish creating bald spots.

I use brasso only by hand, both liquid and wadding...on my buffing wheel and on a dremmel wheel i use a solid block of cutting and polishing compound, a 4 inch cylinder 3 inches in diameter i think it will outlast me and i use it every day

please people, do not polish so mutch the metal take any form of damage, it's so sad to see a boiler or something so polished it has scraches in the metal all over. better to have a boiler with heat markings from use, then scraches from polish. thats just my opinion

Its not how much you polish, its how you do it that causes scratches, or not.

All depends on what polish you use.

I prefer to use Autosol over Brasso. Seems to give a better shine & with less effort, but this may just be my imagination.
