Pre War Mamod / Bowman WhistlesWell here is the prototype, it seems to work ok. The only difference between this and a real one is the handle is brass and not plastic. I have done this as to make sure that it does not burn away like a real one would. To make it look right I will chemically treat the brass to give it a black colour. If anyone is interested in them they will be £20 each. They are suitable for both Bowman and Pre War Mamods.

do people really want handles? i can make handles and supply with a new screw, about £3. When i get the prototype back I will post a pic of the treated handle to give you an idea of the colour

That looks really good, have you an original so that they can be pictured together for comparison?

The whistle+handle that I copied are still at work, here is an original without a handle. The location of the steam passage at the bottom of the whistle is different but unimportant to its function. The body of the original is somewhat damaged and so the features are less well defined than they should be

A friend has brought to my attention that the Mamod one is a slightly different shape, I had forgotten ll about it as I was copying a Bowman one. Anybody wanting one for a Mamod will get one that looks like this
