will I fire it?
probably not as its unfired and as its 27 yrs old unfired I will probably just leave it as is and display it on my shelves
to be honest I dont fire many engines at all, I dont seem to get the time
what I would like to do is buy a carridge to go with it for display purposes can anyone recommend a good match?
Paul.

Just don't fire it, there is no point!
If you want to fire a loco, then fire any old SL1 with a repaint or something!
A real beauty Paul, I still need ol' Charlie

Great engine. Nice to see it on the forum. But all this 27 years old stuff, makes me feel old. I sure I remember when these were the latest thing out.

Deeply moving. The subsequent history adds so much to the "commemoration" intent of the makers.
Say, what is the blue most like? The pictures vary widely above and in the other thread.
Is it a sky blue or a deep royal blue?

Get a couple of RW5 passenger coaches and repaint them in the same blue. Would then look like the old Coronation train in blue.
If you ever store this loco in its box then I would recommend removing the solid fuel tablets. These seem to have a corrosive effect on engines when stored in damp conditions.
By the way well done on getting this loco, particularly as you have the matching set now with the SL4 as well.

its a deep royal blue the pics without the flash ( the ones on kitchen worktop ) are most like the real colour.

Great Idea I shall have to keep my eye out on ebay for a RW5 Coach.

A nice locomotive...don't know that I could own one and not fire it. 27 years...I was working in the hotel industry back then. Quite an event filled year that was.
