johnreid

Stilldrillin

The engine frame`s from an SE2 innit?

If it is, and you don`t need it......... I can use it!
steamyjim

Got to be a portable.

Can't wait to see it finished!
Nick

I like it!
Manxman

A Mamod Portable. I like the idea.
Les

I thought all Mamods were portable.
Wallace

Neat idea. Should come up nice

Portable has come on in leaps and bounds today.

Waiting for some bits now, mainly the copper rivetts for the boiler so I then can do the last of the soldering.

Need to narrow the rear wheels on the lathe, and sort a forecarriage and draw bar for the front.

Then there is the chimney. Whats the best glue for sticking on monkey muck?
steamyjim

That is great!!!!

I need to build a portables for the WLR china clay works
Steve_S

Good idea!
Mamodman123

Araldite sticks most things down

Looks damn good!
Les

That is coming on a treat, well done.
Nick

Does the chimney rest on the whistle?
Les

On the real ones, it rests in a cradle.

I don't think the whistle would hold a chimney on a real one.
steamyman

that looks great.

Currently yes, but I've got a TEWK pipe plug on order, this I will doctor into a filler plug/ chimney cradle.

The pipework makes access to the safety valve difficult, though nowhere near impossible.

Not looking forward to sorting he chimney, me thinks it will be difficult to get straight. Also need to sort a flared end for the top.

Now finished

So then, now finished

As you can probably tell, its a chopped TE1A, with a widened SE2 engine frame, and a SP5 flywheel. I'm quite pleased with it.

Especially the chimney and hinge, a 3/4 steel coat rail with a 2p on the bottom, and a copper flare from a pipe fitting I found in B&Q. Im also pleased with the front axle and drawbar.
steamyjim

Looks great!!!!!!!!

Did you try and sell it on ebay?

I hadn't fitted the wheels and axle properly, and the rear axle wanted a trim.
johnreid

Wow, that is really cool. Top Rate job.
Steve_S

Les

That is nice and unusual, well done.
Nick
