R/C Bargain Recommendation for boaters and othersFor those of you that may just be getting into r/c :
To help you with your steam boats
Or as Roly has done- R/C his TE!! ( Tee Heee)
Or those that have some R/c stuff and getting tired of monitoring channels / crystal etc in a group setting at a pond...There is a very affordable 2.4ghz 4 channel radio that will run all your boats etc ..cheap!! Receivers are only $14.00 USD and the radio is only $29 USD
There is a 6 channel version also for about $3.00 more( you program it with your own computer, unlike the Spektrum and Futaba computer radios- but if you are not an airplane or helicopter hobbiest- this really keeps it affordable!
I can run 4 boats ( one at a time ) with only one radio to mess with and all for $100US--and never have to worry if someone else walks up with a radio that might interfere.
It is a basic radio - but it has been reviewed to death on Model Boat Mayhem and R?C Groups-So I went for it...here is a thread that really explores it and answers about all you could want to ask:

Here is the link( they do sell out often) - but they get stock back in very regularly and will notify you when stock arrives..

A good one to keep in mind, the last setup I had was a 6 channel Futaba and it was well over $400 when I bought it they sure have come down in price.
edited as I had hit the 8 key as opposed to the 6

The Spektrum , Futaba and others are still spendy....A Spektrum 3 channel radio is around $100, but the receivers are about $55 each...a 4 channel 2.4ghz Spektrum is about $165 + the RX's.. that more than triples the cost to outfit my boats.
My boat club was full of "you get what you pay for" but since we are only operating in 2 dimensions on the water ( L or R and how fast..maybe a whistle) it is not nearly as a gamble as flying a $ 1000 helicopter and crashing it...
BTW - Spektrum , JR and Futaba are all made in China too--I would rather save my money for more steam boats!
