That is a real nice one with the red lens and all to boot!
I used to have a collection but had to sell a lot of my collections when my health went bad. I did manage to keep one as it did not sell because the base was bent, it is from the New York Central Railroad

Lewis you can use chemical rust convertors but you will have to manually remove all the flaking rust first or you can use electrolysis to remove the rust which will work on all the tricky parts without you having to scrape off the falking bits first.
Electrolysis is easy to do, all you need is a battery charger, some scrap iron, a big plastic buket and some washing soda.
If you want to try electrolysis send me a PM and I will give you a link to a good website about it.

my grandad has a BR tail lamp like that mounted to his house. He took out the burner and put in a 240 volt bulb. It looks very nice at night.
hope it goes ok for you!

my grandads one was from my uncle as a present (this was when said uncle was a fireman at Swanage). It was a bit of a state but like you will, Grandad sorted it out. It needs a repaint now though.

Just think though Lewis, fix it up and it'll be worth just as much.

Before he moved, a man in the next village had a stop and distant signal mounted on the front wall of his house I believe he was the secretary of the 42968 society
