Rarest Wilesco? The MM2 of 1939 is the rarest Mamod steam engine around but what do you think is the rarest Wilesco?
I would say the D28 as I have never seen one!!!!
What do you think?

I would say the Wilesco Atomic power plant

I 'm not sure about the rarest but the atomic power plant is the one I would most like to own

Yes, for me too...the atomic power plant...
It doesn't come up as often as the D32
When they came up new on the market, they did not sell very good after a time, as the electric heater wasn't very good and danger of electroc shicks was high...so wilesco had to take it out of their range (that's what I heard and read)

The D28 was produced around the same time as the D32 and features the same boiler unit. It is also electric heated. The engine is fitted with the same control panel as the D24 and features a single cylinder engine with governor. Unlike the other models I have never seen a D28, only pictures.
Im not sure but I think a dynamo could be fitted to the engine like the D32 if wanted.
A good friend of mine owns a Atomic power plant complete with box. Perhaps one day I might Try and buy it!!!

D28?
This is basically a D32 , solid fuel / or electric powered but with just 1 cylinder and fly wheel. There are normally 2-3 at STIA, this is a real nice job.
I think a rear Wilesco is an early D22, this has a centre boiler and a cylinder and fly wheel either side. only ever seen pictures -

I've noticed that the Atomic Power plants do come up on Ebay once in a while and the one's in good condition command quite a price - the D28 is definitely more "rare".

... the rarest Wilesco I've come across was an electric (!!!) D6 - and fool me didn't go along with the ebay auction. Grey based, and only made for 12 months, starting 1965 in March (so tells me Wilesco, mind you. It seems, if you badger 'em enough, you get an answer ).
150 Watts! Now, that must have been a cracker ... D6's have boilers the size of a Coke can.

Is there such a thing as a Atomic Power Plant with a reciprocating steam engine?

Interesting thought, I think most have Steam Turbines, in real life.

For me it must surely be this, as I’ve only ever seen two of these models!
The first Wilesco mobile, the famous Old Smokey Steam Roller, which was first introduced into their range in 1966, probably in response to the success or the Mamod SR1 and TE range.
With its distinct smooth brass canopy, this was the first ever Traction Engine Wilesco produced, it is not to be confused with the later brass and tin models that have been brought out in recent years.

I think the painted version of this tractor was the first one!
Also had that weird looking front part....

I've got a D4 but I really don't know if it's the rarest of Wilesco range.
Our german friends could confirm that but I think it was made for export cause there is no security glass on it.
Perhaps too dangerous for german laws but perfect for several countries like Belgium... ?
I don't know.
