Renown Vertical running (Well almost)Here is the video of the first firing of my Renown vertical.
It didn't run too well in this video due to the spring that holds the cylinder on being too weak and I haven't lapped this cylinder for this engine as it came off another one but it did give me a few seconds run and it proved all my work was steam tight.
Also notice the wobble on the flywheel, the crank rod is bent and needs to be replaced.

Nice work Tony!
Just needs a little bit more tweaking and she'll be a proper runner

You've done an excellent job with those parts. At least a spring should be easy enough to sort out. I bet you're really

This is my second Renown vertical but I also own a Renown Steam Roller and have a windmill on its way to be restored too.
Renowns are hard to get hold of.
This one in its broken state still cost me $128 (£60). One in nice working condition will set you back up to $360 (£160)

It was nice to see it running, and there only seem to be minor things left to sort out.

Yeh I'm starting to get good at making Renown parts and a bit faster on my lathe.
Just produced another overflow plug and this one took me just a little over an hour.
Haven't been game to make a whistle yet though.
