Restored Mamod LocoI hope this is the right section for this
Got me this mamod SL1 from UK some time ago.
It required a bit of work, the paintwork was badly damaged on the boiler.
Also, rust was gone underneath the paint of the cab (partially)
I did not want a big restoration as i wanted to have a loco that should look used on th eone hand...and to look like a toy loco on the other hand.
So i decided to polish up the boiler and leave it to dull over time.
The paintwork was stabilized by superglue.
One drop applied so it went under the paint and the immediately the rest was wiped off. Worked quite well!
The only thing that had to be ordered new were the wheels.
It came as a gauge 1 loco but i wanted a gauge 0 (to fit the mamod tracs)
Here's what happend shortly after receiving the parcel.
And after restoration:

Unfortunately i was not able to run it on tracks.
I have no mamod tracks, just old Marklin tracks.
Those are pre-war and quite old and bent...
It would derail after a few centimeters.
So i ran it on blocks.
Ran very well, no leaks at all!
Not on the reversing lever and not on the steam ports
Very pleased with it.
I tried running it on my carpet.
Ran a meter or two and then stopped (my carpet is quite soft, so this breaked the loco a lot)

You did a nice job, Mirko.
It looks original, as it should.
