I enjoyed that, Sandy.
The D28 is a great engine and I'm curious about that generator.
It appears to be very efficient.
Good idea using flashing LEDs as a load.

Very enjoyable sandy, you should have the D28 running the lights on your Christmas tree this year.

Your D28 is a real peach of an engine and hooked up to the genny and LED's only increases the fun factor
Ideal set up for doing a ye olde style steam powered disco!

No-one makes videos like the Sandman.....I just love that Ayrshire burr
Aren't those Ray Pulley generators great? Got one myself, I love it! Is that the one you got this STL mate?

I can agree to that, Odilon

Thanks Guys
My next engine up is the wonderful Wilesco D222 I got from my friend Benchmark. This engine runs like a watch and I was interested to see if it would drive my Jensen Generator.
Here's how it went.
Les
It drives it with ease, another great video Sandy.
RocDoc
Fantastic videos mate!!!

Thanks guys.
I was surprised at just how powerful the D222 was.

Some more great videos Sandy, the Jensen generator is a true classic in both looks and function.
Sandman
Having seen just what the D222 was capable of, I thought I would give it the ultimate test and hook it up to Blue Thunder.
Thanks for the extra videos Sandy, I'll haver to find away to beef up my M101, or maybe I don't want too - anyway a great tour, thnaks.
Cheers
Chris
Thanks Chris, more to come mate.
I thought that by using my gas burner I'd get a few more revs from the old girl, but she just plodded away.
Roly Williams
I think the problem is lack of revs, not lack of power. The 101 might just have enough torque to drive the Blue Thunder direct from the rim of the flywheel if you let the pressure build up. That's what the groove's there for, after all.

I think it would have still struggled Roly.
It was struggling to turn it over from the smaller pulley.
I still think I didn't wick up the original burner well enough and that may have contributed a lot.

Fascinating stuff Sandy and great videos as ever.
I am sure Rolys right, I think its all about the "gearing" here, either as Roly suggests or run onto a linehaft then onto the blue thunder.

Nce to see the bowman in action, I must get myself a blue thinder they lok great
It drives it with ease, another great video Sandy.
that it was. might try same but with it's bigger brother the D32, one day.

More great videos Sandy, the Jesen 25G is particularly of interest, now that I have seen the light with electric engines.
Nice to see the old boy Bowman having a crack at driving a generator but like you say its a bit of a plodder by nature and all the more lovely for it.

That's strange. One thing the 101 doesn't normally lack is torque!

Nice to see the engines working for a living Sandy.

A Bowman in fine fettle and an enjoyable video. Were you using a 50mm x 15mm gas burner Sandy?
