Sandringham Game and Country Fair

Went to the Sandringham Game and Country fair yesterday.  It's not strictly a steam fair, but did have some really nice traction engines so I took a few photos.

I liked the miniature traction engines.

Enjoy

That little portable in the last photo is an interesting combination

Roly..That little engine looks like it was made by Savages of Kings Lynn,  and would have orginally been a centre engine on  a set of steam gallopers or switchback type ride,  the small auxillary engine is an organ engine and would have powered the rides organ.

I currently have a 1/4 scale Rodeo Switchback ride here in pieces which should feature both type engines when rebuilt.

Thanks Alex. That explains a lot.

The 1/4 scale Switchback sounds great. Good luck in getting that together

Roly,

If you have a look at the pictures on this section about Dorset, I believe Fred Crammond took a lovely one of "John Bull"   which is the centre engine on our friend David Downs set of Steam Gallopers.

That shows the engine and smaller organ engine in situ on the ride.

As for our Switchback...its proving to be a challenge!  as currently powered by electric but I am working to make it steam...also has the inherent problem as Savages found originally that the 3 rail track needs to be shimmed to stop the cars derailing.
I must take some pictures and do a thread on it.

Alex
