SE 1 RestorationCan anyone help I am restoring my first engine. The boiler strap that is on at the moment doesnt have a hole in it for the top pipe of the boiler to come out of. Has it been replaced? Where can I get a new one? Also need replacement transfer for flat base.
Can any one help?
Thanks,
Mark

If it's an early flatbase the boiler strap should be copper, some did have the holes drilled for the union and pipe. Depends on the age of the engine,
Any chance of a picture?

Go to boilers and you will see a flat steel strap.
Without seeing the engine it's hard to tell exactly what type you need. As MM said, some did have holes.
Those that don't have holes can sometimes look like they are out of place, but more than likely they are original unless the engine looks all restored.

Hi Mark and welcome to the forum.
If you do not have the means to take a photo one way is to refer to the Toy Steam Bible.
http://www.toysteambible.org/
Have a look through there and place a link to your boiler band and say something like "I got one like this... " well you get the idea.
e.g.
Heres a link to an engine with copper boiler band

Most of the contributors to the steam bible are on this forum.
