Ooooh! This is the one for me!
It will need some updating, however. Our test passengers have complained that the ride was too short and feel safety belts a reasonable solution.

That's the sort of thing I always used to try making with my brother's Meccano! (I wasn't allowed my own set but he never used his so I borrowed it!). I also tried to make a carousel type roundabout, but I was only 9 so I never finished it. I must NOT get into Meccano. No. No. No. Mamods will have to do for now. But very very interesting and I'd love to see video of one being run from stationary Mamod...

i think this ride would run quite nicely with a Jensen or Wilesco engine which has a speed control valve.

A Mamod SP3 or MEC1 would be the engine of choice . . . .
