Slight moan, then some nice pics!I cycled up to Amberley Station to get the train home, and looked at the display that shows me when the next train is due. Only three words were shown "Customer Display System". I thought it might just be correcting itself. Then a couple of girls walked onto the platform. One made a phone call to whom I presume they were meeting up with, I heard "The train normally gets here at 35 past innit". I thought, great, only 10 minutes then. 35 past came and I saw the train in the distance. I got up and was already to get on and...the train didn't stop! Then once it had thundered through, the display suddenly decided to show that the next train was due at 1935, an hour away and I didn't want to spend the next hour on a cold platform with two chavvy girls battering on! I called my mum and told her about the situation. I then rode back to the museum, and parked my bike up where I normally do. I told Dick that it was there, and walked slowly back. I took the opportunity to take some pictures, as I do not usually get the chance to do so. Just for you:
The Dennis fire engine under cover for once, in the new fire station.
Anyone who has been along the A29 in the last few years via Slindon will have seen this. The 'Fairmile Cafe'. It stood abandoned for many years, before being relocated here.
The village garage and bike menders shop. Sadly for me, the bike mender doesn't fix anything made within the last 40 years!
The Green Goddess fire engine. This saw use in Chichester when there was a national strike by the firemen. No doubt over pay!
A Victorian Living Van. This was owned by a local contractor called 'Sparks'. He practically built the village I live in!
We put the old WSCC signposts to good use here!
The 'Industrial Line'. This is where we (the RailGroup) store our serviceable freight stock.
The main Southdown Bus Garage. We have no less than 3 Southdown bus garages on site, this is the main one where we store the serviceable fleet.
This is the 'Wheelwrights' shop. These people are very skilled in what they do, they restored one of our Groudle Glen coaches.
The wind powered water pump outside our restaurant 'The Limeburners'. I believe the pump also featured in James Bond film 'A View to a Kill'.

Nope, I'm not sure if it's legal to walk along roads that have no footpaths, oh, and a dual carriageway! My mum picked me up from Amberley Station.
Jim, I just don't like chavvy people full stop! I didn't get a good look at them anyway. If I did I'd probably hear "Don't go giving me evils!"

It's one of those places where you have to come for two days, not one. It's a 36 acre site, and I still haven't had a good look at everything!

As always MTA, your pics are the stuff of postcards. I really enjoy seeing the sold steam equipment brought back to life.

G-J,
Nice pic of the Cutty Sark...shame it got burned recently, but from what I have read, they plan to salvage it and restored the damaged parts. It is too much of a landmark (seamark?) to NOT re-do it.

Using the chavvy girls words, not mine!

If I had a better camera, then maybe

Thats a given! Although The Cutty Sark is only an attraction because Prince Phillip burnt it down I'm not a fan of the Bluebell anymore. I've been a volunteer there for three years, and I know the place like the back of my hand I personally haven't been to the Portsmouth Dockyards, despite being so close! I'll probably go when I'm off school

I think Bluebell's great especially at Horsted Keynes in the rain, around the new year period. It's all steamy and atmospheric, and realy is like stepping back in time.

I've got a certificate somewhere to say we own one inch of track on the Bluebell - it was a fundraiser for the extension of the line about 15 years ago? I found the photos the other day when I was scanning in all my negatives.
And one day I really will get to Amberley - despite living in Portsmouth for years it was somewhere I never managed to visit
