SOLD Mamod SR1A Mint in BoxI have two of these and see no reason to have the duplication. I have no place to run it mobile so instead of gathering dust, I want to replace it with an item that is currently on Ebay
It comes with The box, Steering Rod, Meths Burner, Scuttle, it is complete. This Roller has only been fired 4 or 5 times and the green paint under the chrome Firebox is still green.
The only minus is that the burner has been repaired, it works fine, I have never had a leak and for all practical purposes it is as good as a new burner, but I thought I should reveal all before listing.
I need to raise $100 USD
Shipping
lower 48 US states...$12 USD
Canada.....................$20 USD
UK.............................$35 USD
OZ and NZ................$45 USD
Let me know if you have questions, it goes on Ebay tonight, I really want that Bowman

Did you want to take $100 for it now or try to do better on ebay? I notice that they are doing pretty well lately, and it's in fine condition.
Either way is fine by me. I was thinking of an earlier SR1a for awhile, but, again, it's not something that I absolutely *need*
And it doesn't look like I'll be buying an SP5 today anyway

$100 for a forum member, it would save all of the Ebay fees etc.
I will do it Buy It Now for $120 on Ebay though.
I do have a Bowman to pay for

Hang it all. I'll contribute to your Bowman fund.
PM me with your paypal info and I'll get on it.

I do believe that this is a win win win situation, Mark gets a nice Roller, I get a Bowman, and Roger gets the money and a little more .
On the down side, everyone else will have to put up with my bragging about getting my Bowman.
I sold the Roller and I have a few more items to sell, not Steam though and the Bowman gets paid for and the light bill gets paid too. Sometimes, Life is good.

Nice one John, I am beginning to loose touch of what's what, and who's who's, as there seems to be an awful lot of collection trading of late

I still have a SR1A too, just without the box or Steering Rod. I have too many boxes anyhow, they have to be stored and all.

Mister Occlusion

And I have no steering rod for my SR1, so things work out that way too

I need to get one now I do not know why people lose those things.
I think that the rod is available several places in the US, I might buy one from Ministeam in a month or two. They have all of the Wilesco parts I need excepting a steering wheel and the clutch plate and from what I can tell the clutch is not going to be easy to find. I think I might have to fabricate one of those.
Isnt it odd how that poor Smoky keeps getting put off a month at a time. I will get it going sometime.

I had almost forgotten about the poor old thing.
My own projects are on hiatus. I just can't get enthused about stripping paint... and then there's the rest of it
Think I am just going to relax for awhile. Gives the ideas time to ferment properly too

I enjoy just watching them run, it doesnt even require a Workshop or a Generator. Just the sound and sometimes the smell and the motion.
An odd observation though, when I run the Fleischmann the smell of Esbit isnt as over powering as it was with the Wilesco D10, I wonder if the fact that there is ventilation at the back of the Firebox doesnt promote more efficient burning.
That being said, I think I need to make a Meths burner for it as I have a lot of fuel.

sometimes I've wondered if it would help to inject air into the firebox. Not a torrent, but more than you'd get through normal convection. Something like a muffin fan and some creative miniature ducting to provide more of an updraft.
I don't recall how much (or not) the Jensen 75 stank when on Esbit.
I can't remember the last thing that I fired on esbit, which almost gagged me, even outside. Might have been the D22.... or the 75 for that matter.
You know what I like? The hearty clop of a cast iron model 25 going at a trot, and the smell of that ol' Green Velvet steam oil coming out the exhaust
---yeah, I fired my 1940something one tonight for the first time since the boilerectomy. That pre-reverse 25 is the smoothest engine I've got by far.

John, you got the Bowman!
The way your trades are going, you are working your way up to some real nice engines.

I can burn Esbit in the Wilesco D5 and it isnt too bad as there isnt that much being burnt. I also know that if you blow Esbit out before it has burnt out the smell is terrible, it has to burn to nothing.

Well done Mr. O and John.

It is boxed up and I need to run errands today so it will make it to the Post Office Today.

Well done to the both of you!!

It is on its way, someone was behind me in line at the Post Office and when I said it was going to Canada the guy started on a rant about the hassles involved, but once he saw how simple the Customs form was he said he was going to start selling to Canadians on Ebay also. People just imagine hundreds of forms instead of the simple name and address form. It is a gift, right?

Try blowing one out outside, they smoke like you wouldn't believe. I have done it in my house and had to quickly re-light them because of the smell.

Does shipping it as a gift save a lot of paperwork?
|
johnreid
|
I think it helps out on the Taxes that they might get stuck with sometimes.
Is it called VAT?
|
Nick
|
I think it is VAT, I saw that when I was thining about ordering parts from UK.

It saves the reciever money, as if the cost of the item/s is over $36 to the UK, they then have to pay extra tax, as I did on both my recent items.
|
Nick

But it was free when it's a gift.
