I received the excellent large capacity burner made by forum member Gremlin today - it extends useful burn time to 20 minutes, so no more refuelling after a cold start. It also lowers the centre of gravity for the loco some more, along with the very nice heavy brass spacer....brilliant bit of kit!
Also fitted the nice new buffer plate and coupling provided by Dream Steam...this makes for much easier coupling and a much steadier ride.
Finally a vid showing the loco in action today....yep, I know the guards van is facing the wrong way!

Read my post again mate

Jeez you need to be quick to video that flyer Odilon.
That burner is a cracking job mate.
Great stuff Gremlin.

It's certainly a goer (nudge nudge, wink wink).
Oh BTW, has anybody told you the guard's van is the wrong way round?

I do know now that the three wick burner is a must have for the Mamod SL locos. I hope to try mine with a Car or teo in a day or two.
Oh Moose, the Guards Van is backwards.
I lost out on a Guards van on Ebay the other night, they do not come up that often, Might be that I will buy an IP kit one soon.

Nice runner Moose even though the engine is travelling in the wrong direction, that makes the guards van the right way round then.
Graham-Jilly
great runner mate
Ah Clem
Moose, the caboose
(is on backwards).
Actually, I now finally know which is the front end of a guard's van, which I did not before...
(and I have only been playing with trains since 1960...)
Great running engine, by the way!

One of the advantages of living next to a builders yard.....I can see what's in the skip from an upstairs window. The flooring is just the end of a roll of office carpet. You should see the enormous stash of plywood I hauled in the other day!

Narrow gauge railways often ran the rolling stock in the same orientation, on the Glyn Valley for example it was impossible to rotate the stock as the couplers were different on each end of the stock too. So when the loco ran around the other end of the train, the brake van would be facing the wrong way.
But on this occassion the Brake Van is facing the wrong way!
Just noticed a little label on the corner - "I Love Daddy"? a note from one of the mooselings?

hmm... do you have some sheet music of the Symphony, would give it a try on my Accordion, may need to transpose it to Y Flat Minor.
BTW: How many '#' has W Flat Minor????
kusuchi
Wow. Don't think I've ever seen a Loco going so fast without disrailing.
I'm sure you know by now that the guards van is on the wrong way round.
The real question is why? Is it something to do with the couplings?
warwickshiresteam
Actually, the brake van IS the right way round; you just put the loco on the wrong end.
You said the meths burner had been extended by forum member 'Gremlin' - would 'Gremlin' consider doing the same for one of my burners?

Well that's easy! Three less than W Flat Major of course!
As for the Gremlin burners, can't recommend them highly enough - I've got one on my other SL3 as well now. Drop him a PM!
