SR1 N&B (1962). …Cleaned up niceWell got up early, and as its a nice sunny day here I decided to shoot off a few shots in the garden of the Mamod SR1 I just receved and cleaned up yesterday.
After a good washing with mild soapy water and a fair bit of brasso and elbow grease, its come up a treat.

Wow, well done with that cleanup, and purchase.

Funny you say I should post a picture of my SR1 N&B and my TE N&B together!
It’s long been an ambition of mine to re produce the picture on page 54 of the Mamod Bible, its the one with the TE and SR1 together.
NOW at last I can... watch this space in the next couple of weeks

That has come out very nice as well, the thing is though, are you going to steam it??
|
Kritika

Not sure Les,
Still not decided if its one of those that are just too rare to steam. I have other similar SR1’s that I steam instead.
Still I may do it anyway....

Go on, you know you want to
I must admit, I have yet to steam the one I have, and it is not as nice as your's.

Thats really good, will sure complement the TE1 as well, what a great collection youre getting.
How did you clean the chrome on yours ?
I can understand your worry re steaming it, the chrome does get singed

Just warm soapy water and a toothbrush, to clean the chrome cowling mate!
I have searched for ages for one with a good chrome cowling, as I have a 1961 with a realy bad cowling (see my website).
I find that is the part that always goes on these early models, and their is nothing you can do about it. So the condition of the cowling is the bit I concentrate on when I am thinking of buying one.
