SR1 restorationThis beast came on ebay quite cheap a week ago, so without really looking I snapped it up as quickly as I could.
It's a nice nut and bolt SR1 which need a bit of TLC. It's currently in bits, with a couple of easy solder jobs that need doing and a good clean and general sort out.
All the bits appear to be there, maybe a bolt missing, will find out once I've cleaned it, done the repairs that are needed and started to rebuild it back up. I've had a backlog of restorations that needed doing
Will be starting this one tomorrow hopefully

You have took that one back to it's bare essentials
looking at your pics, I have just realised why the early fireboxes had the square cut out under the boiler. It seems it was to allow the raised whistle bush to pass through on assembly, then the boiler was simply rotated 180 degree's, then bolted up.
As Malins went over to the newer style bushings, the firebox cut out was omited.
All just a theory though.
