Steam oil V engine oilHi,
Can anyone give me there opinion on steam oil and if it is really better than engine oil. I have not used steam oil before and it would be costly to ship to Bangkok where I am located so really need to know if it outperforms regular oil before committing to the extra shipping charges.
Is there any alternative to steam oil readily available on the market?
Don’t know if it makes a difference on which engine you use it on but my engines consist of two Stuarts and a Mamod SE3.

I used to always run normal engine oil. But I was always curious as to why I would see videos on here where the engine would pick up revs when being oiled while running. The answer was steam oil.
Mine did the opposite. A couple of drops of engine oil at the cylinder/manifold area while running, and it would often slow my engines down for a short time.
Then I got some steam oil with a couple of engines I bought. I tried the oil on my other mamods, and it made a big difference.
I've just ordered more. Try forestclassics. He sells 250ml bottles and postage is good. 250ml will last a fair while as you only need a small bit. I still use engine oil on parts like axles and crank pins though.

In a displacement lubricator the oil is supposed to emulsionate with the condensed steam, i.e. water.
Readily available oils which which have this property are "cutting oils" used on lathes and milling machines pumps.
Such oils can be found in shops where they sell these machines and their accessories.

Thanks for the input.
I will be getting lubricators fitted at some point in time so the cutting oil tip will be very useful given my geographical location and shipping costs.
