Steam tight? You Bet!

I was just walking past my Luton Bowman and out of impulse spun the fly wheel and to my amazement it made the whistle sound as I had left it in the open position.
I then closed the whistle and spung the fly wheel several times meeting greater resistance each revolution.

After waiting 10 or so seconds I opened the whistle and the pressure I had built up in the boiler made the whistle sound for a couple of seconds.

I guess I can safely say my Luton Bowman does not have any leaks.

yes, very steam tight if only all engines were like that

All my SE3's can build up a little pressure to make the whistle sound as long as you replace all seals then engines will run sweet
Dauntless

yes my N&B TE1 is like that,
as is the mastrand, "i think" difficult to tell with undoing the safety valve to hear the "hiss"

First thing I do when I get an engine is cover safety valve hole with finger, spin flywheel in reverse, then release finger, to see if pressure comes out.

My SE2a will actually kick flywheel over a couple of turns if i spin the flywheel in reverse for a bit, then let go
