Steam tugboat "Sf. Sisoe"Hello!
Miles asked me to post some pictures of my live steam tugboat named "Sf. Sisoe", so here it is. It's mostly scratch built, with a wooden hull made from the Billing Boats St. Canute kit and scratch built deck and cabins of my own design. It is plank on frame, using abachi wood strips. The darker wood used for the deck and cabins is walnut.
The steam engine is a modified Wilesco D49, with vertical boiler and V-twin double acting piston valve engine. I have added a superheater (steam line going down the chimney and exiting through the fire box), lightened the con rods and added an adjustable oiler and manometer from Modellbau Niggel. The fuel is alcohol (vaporising burner).

I have described the building process here, for those interested:

Great little Tug.
I like the fact that you modified the engine to go a little faster, I can see the diference between that one and a standard D-49

I ask about your boat over on Miles thread ...and I should have started here...
I remember when you first posted this boat over on Mayhem... you had no detail and just the bare wood
WOW
You have really finished it out so nicely!!
If I remember - this was your first boat ...and first steam boat as well -correct?
The anchor hoist, the wheel house.... -there are so many considerate details...
San Fransisco????Perhaps

I really love the ship's bell (something I want to include in my next project), and the beautifully proportioned fittings - ventilators, light, etc.
I'd love to see it sailing in the late evening with the lights on.

Thanks!
It's correct, this is my first steamboat (actually my first boat of any kind).
I haven't sailed it in the evening yet, but that s on my to do list.
And no, the name doesn't have anything to do with San Francisco. It's more of a joke for my friends on a Romanian model forum. Since the kit I have based the hull on was called St. Canute, I thought it would be appropriate to give it another saint's name, after changing it into something else (first they didn't approve of me messing with the kit). Saint Sisoes really existed (I have checked the calendar), but he is largely unknown and most think it's just a joke.

Superb Tug, Kno.
You should build more steam models. Love the whistle. Is that RC operated?
I empty my displacement lubricator with a syringe after each run, along with the separation tank.
Great video.
