STEAM4FUN

After talking to Simon at S4F at STIA yesterday and said he always reads the forum for reviews, although has been keeping away a bit because he thought a certain person was still a member. Now he knows that he isn't, we were on about a discount for forum members   He doesn't make much profit on things as it is anyways, but would like to offer a bit off for us guys. I'll let you know of any more I hear.

Please check out his NEW website at:

HI guys, was doing a search for something else and came across James's post here...

I just finished my Wilesco rebuild and made extensive use of Simon's products. I live in Canada and was expecting a long wait for the parts to arrive from England, but both orders arrived in less than a fortnight, and that considering that Canada post takes about a week to deliver anything (after stomping on it and playing footy with any interesting-looking packages).

The Steam4Fun parts fit perfectly, look good, and are well worth the price. And Simon must have posted them on more or less the same day I made the order. Also, an Email I sent asking about a certain part was answered within 24 hours. I think this level of attention is pretty uncommon these days. My impression is that Simon is a good guy and has a nice little business there.

Just wanted to respond to a job well done, I think anyone on the forum who has a mamod or wilesco mobile engine should look at the Steam4Fun website, well worth it.

How about buy one get one free on all steam engines or a free wilesco TE with every brass chimney cap?

You're not suggesting I work for them are you Alan? I assure you I live in the high Arctic and only joined this forum to get advice on how to restore my steam tractor. I get bored in the winter because I am a seaplane pilot.  You know, I was hesitant to post a consumer review because people always jump to the conclusion that it's a sponsored plug.

I used to build model aeroplanes and my experience with ordering model parts usually from U.S. suppliers, is that it takes several weeks for the supplier to bother to mail the part in the first place, Customs people take their turn beating the shit out of the parcel, then Canada Post takes their turn, then maybe eight or nine weeks after you gave up and forgot the bloody thing even existed, it shows up at the door in splinters and you have to ask yourself whether it's easier to post the whole mess back and wait three months for a replacement, or get out the super glue and fix it yourself.

So I just wanted to give credit where credit is due, I'm not involved in any of the competition you guys might be over there in the U.K. and I'm not interested in doing a lot of internet shopping, so I liked the fact that I could buy all the parts I needed from one place, and I liked the fact that the parts were posted quickly, and I liked the fact that the vendor was willing to return an Email.

So Alan I apologise if I read your post incorrectly but if I did not, I'll be pleased to give you a free traction engine from over here in Canada if you agree to come an' get it!!!!

Excellent - free Traction Engines! Any chance of a free trip in the seaplane when the weather improves?

You might need a doctor to remove the free traction engine

But aye, if you ever show up here I'll take you for a seaplane ride.

I might put you to work though:

Looks fantastic! Closest I've been to Canada is Illinois, that was cold enough for me when I last went!

Anyhow what's up with the free Traction Engine, I think you should just keep it stored safely on a shelf!

The only Float Plane I ever rode in was a Beaver, that one looks much bigger.
Les

What wonderful scenery.
James

You have a floatplane??
Keith S

No, It's just my job. I used to think I wanted one but I've decided there are things I'd rather do with my spare time.
