Steaming for FunI went to a private Steam Do at the weekend where like minded people are invited for a steam up, a few beers and a lot of fun without worrying about the public as they were not invited.
It is all in the aid of the Somerset Air Ambulance so it has a serious side to it.
It isn't restricted to just steam, there are cars, tractors and commercial vehicles invited as well, Mamods and Bowmans were also welcome so I took some with me.
For the Saturday pub run I went on the back of this Foden,
and on the Sunday I steered this Wallis and Steevens roller to and from the pub.

was a brilliantly good rally.
That mini foden, so much fun. It is my aunts, I nnicked it for the weekend, the Burrell was being tempermental with me.
Coming home from the pub run on Sunday, my aunt rolled the small foden, coming down a hill when a tractor overtook her and slammed on its brakes, she couldn't stop and had to ditch it. On the Saturday someone else on a 4'' traction engine rolled his. His steering chain snapped, he lost control and it rolled over, snapped the whole chimney out of the smoke box.
Apart from that, a brilliant weekend!

It was great fun, you did everything at your own pace and not to keep the public happy.

Looks like amazing fun, remember the pics from last year as well.
But rolling a Foden and a TE, that sounds nasty, hope both were after coming back from the pub
As a matter of interest, what sort of prices do these scale TEs lorries and Showmans go for, if they ever sell

it depends really, my aunt bought that foden brand new from modelworks for £13,500. the engines can go for anything between £12,000 up to about £18,000 depending on the make, size and condition, obviously other types of engines can make a lot more than that.

It was great fun, re the Foden and TE rolling, both were coming back from the pub, the damage to the Foden is minimal and mainly to the cab but the TE damage was more substantial and an insurance claim. All drivers and passengers were un-injured except for shock.
If you are in the market for a miniature engine they can start at around £12,000 upwards for a TE dendinging on size and condition and for a lorry it can be around £15,000 upwards.

Don't forget that there were a lot of alterations which pushed the cost even higher.
