STIA Disc Crank Collection

Here's the collection of disc cranks I plan to exhibit at the STIA.

I think they look well together.

Then again, I would.

MTA

They do look good SM, it's a shame that I shall be unable to see them Then again I might be seeing Steels later in the year at Amberley
Manxman

A very nice set of engines and they go together very well. I think STIA is going to be in for a real treat this year with some of the engines being taken by members of the forum.
Mamodman123

Wow they look good SM! They go together very well!
Sandman

Thanks Guys.

Just as a matter of interest.
When I was doing the last engine I noticed it had a different kind of safety valve.

None of my other Mamods have this valve.

Any info would be most appreciated.

Mamodman123

Its Similar to the 40's MM1 safety valves but ive never seen/had one like it before I can't quite work out where it pops up SM?

It pops up at the bottom of the bell shaped part MM.

The spring is in first class nick as well.

Well i'm not sure about that SM...Is it a good fit? Does it feel like its meant to be there?

Definately MM. It's got what looks like a black washer in there.

I take it this might not be original????
Steve_S

Tremendous trio SM! I'm really looking forward to STIA.
Mamodman123

Well I've not seen one myself, they are similar to what you would expect but not quite there if you know what I mean

Either way, it looks like it could do a job in there!

Maybe I didn't explain it right the first time MM.

It pops up where the black line is in the middle of the bell.

It looks really strong and a little odd.

Yes i thought it popped up there. Usually they have a like a grip on them not a nut But it could easily be original!
SPOKESMAN

Any of them steaming SM?
Wallace

Nice little display there SM

Not before the STIA Mike, but there's no reason to think they wouldn't fire up fine.

All three are in very good nick and really solid.

Have you seen this safety valve before???

No exactly - but similar. I seem to think some of the ealier Mamods had parts made by possibly different manufacturers or they changed supplier a lot, since a number of the safty valves I have seen are different!
SPOKESMAN

SM A FEW VARIATIONS . . .

Sandman

Wow Mike.

I never realised there were so many.

There is a good chance that mine is original then.

Oh yeah MTA, is that still on?
Griffin

Lovely set of engines there SM, turned out to the usual high standard.
Sandman

Thanks Griffin.

Don't know why, but these little disc cranks kinda grab my imagination.

I'm really pleased with the way they've come up.

The crank disc's are lovely little engines, loads of character, and the solid red flywheel is a nice finishing touch
Mamodman123

They are lovely engines! Very rare aswell!

The crank disk on my 46 SE2 is green

One of them for SM next
Sandman

If only MM.

I would really love one of these.

These machines are the very top of every collectors list.

I've a long way to go before I manage even to get near one let alone own one.

That 46 SE2 there is built to such a high standard SM! Its better quality than the pre war models ITs got a double cast brass engine frame. larger base, larger boiler!

Keep a look out SM! Might be something that catches your eye at STIA
