STIA2008 Exhibitor Applications

STEAM TOYS IN ACTION 2008
ABBEY PUMPING STATION
LEICESTER

I have now posted invitations and application forms for STIA08 to all those on my list. If you are expecting to exhibit and do not receive a form within the next few days they can be downloaded from the website www.fcrammond.clara.net or I can be contacted directly on fcrammond@hotmail.com . If you wish to attend as an exhibitor you need to submit an application form before 1st January to get table space, fuel, programme, tea tickets, and listing in the programme. Bulk bookings will not be acceptable. I do need details of all individual exhibitors. Do not assume that there will be a central Forum stand, it may not be possible to put all Forum members together although I will, as usual, do my best. Real names, not avatars must be used on applications but the latter will be helpful as additions. As in previous years I am not able to promise any particular position on the site but I will usually do my best to meet with exhibitors wishes. If you wish to be placed near any other exhibitors add this to your form and I will try and accommodate you. If there is anyone you do not wish to be near to keep it to yourself or don’t come. My biggest problem is finding space not exhibitors.

I look forward to meeting you in February

Hi,
What's the situation if you say want to just bring one loco and run it on a 32mm gauge portable track, if there happened to be one there?
fcrammond

There will definitely be my Mamod layout run by Rob Staines and Selwyn Richards and you would be welcome to running rights. I expect we will have the forum track along again and there might well be one or two smaller circuits here and there. It is surprising what you find in corners.
Regarding application forms as you would not need any space you wouldn't need to be an official exhibitor but you would have to pay to get in and would have to provide your own fuel and buy your own cup of tea.
The choice is yours.
F
SillyBilly

Thanks Fred, sounds just like what I'd do when I go to other places, a cheekily ask to run.
James

Hi Fred

Please check your PMs.

That sounds a fare deal SB.
Pay to get in for just a look around and then get to run your loco on someone elses track for just the cost of your own fuel can't complain about that.
I would love to be able to come for a look around but at a cost of just under $8000 for just the airfares for the family I think I will be missing out.
Titan

Yup, I will be there with my layout (must get the application in!!)

Was not too busy in terms of visiting loco's - Indeed I could of done with a few more to give Titan a break - put quite a few miles on it last year! There should be some extra features and more detail, and suitable rolling stock will be provided if you only want to bring a loco.

I'll have two working locos next year!

Rosa could have gone all day but I had to steam some other stuff too
SillyBilly

We can see if an Edrig will fit through your bridge !

Is it a Toy? Thought Fred said he didn't want those big stuff like Lady Annes or whatever
Titan

I am afraid that you might not be allowed to steam Edrig, as this event is specifically for toy steam, and I don't think it meets the criteria. Unless Fred might give some dispensation?

Must type faster mamodman beat me to it...
SillyBilly

Oh, right, it'd have to stay in the car then!

Never fall into that trap of thinking that the 'big boys' only have 'big boy' stuff...

We can bring out a Mamod when required!!

I'll leave the Garratts behind for once & bring some Mamods - hope i can get a slot on a line somewhere to run the loco, i presume that double heading is allowed...??

Chris.

Titan

Double heading is fine by me, although there was plenty of spare running time on the layout last time.

Funnily enough I have used Titan to haul, sorry pilot a Garret and its train at one of the 16mm NG association AGM's. A buffer beam ornament the owner called it!

Posted my application today, so I've got 3 months to decide what to take
MooseMan

Looking forward to finally meeting you in person Roly.....so many of my steam heroes are coming, I'll take a magic marker so you can all sign my SE3 or something!

Roly was the first person I corresponded with after I rediscovered the joys of toy steam......he gave me lots of measurements for my 234 loco restoration.

Hey! That may be most of the big boys, but not me!!

I first had a Mamod in 1975, long before the Garratt collection started & the Mamod collection is growing rapidly now too! There's no reason why you can't love both (this doesn't apply to women of course... ).
The first garden railway loco i had was a Mamod, my colleague & i used to run double headed at many shows we went to - in fact those two Mamods were a damn sight more reliable than many a loco that had cost 10 times as much!!

Looking forward to showing the Mamods at Leicester - hope to see some of your there!

Just back from a 5 day stint at the Midlands Model Engineering Exhibition with 'Ttarrag Shed', but not many Mamods there...
Shame - would've made a welcome break from the top end engineering stuff, great show though!

Chris.

Now that sounds like an excellent idea. But, then, who would want to buy it?
