Stuart S-50 Mill EngineA few months back I sold off a number of pieces from the Temple to free up some shelf space and some cash. Here is proof I have re-invested in steam.
Unusual for me...I have done NO restoration or mucked with this in any way, this is how it arrived and it runs beautifully on air...steam hopefully when I get a boiler project done.
cheers,
Rog

Wow! Truly a museum piece, if asked for a definition of Industrial Art, that should be shown as an example.

What a beauty! What kind of boiler are you intending to use Rog?

Very nice indeed Rog.
How big is the engine, what would you say a good comparison to it would be?

Thanks guys...I feel funny about this one, having done NOTHING to get it looking nice but flash a credit card!!
Steve, you asked about boiler size...I really don't know yet as I am still running it in on compressed air. I was told with my Stuart Beam to run it in on air for 30+ hours lubed only with 3 in 1 oil so long as only compressed air used. I must admit the Beam smoothed out beautifully after that treatment, so even as I type, the S-50 is puttering away on air in the background. With a 5/8" bore and 1.25" stroke, I'm thinking it will require at least a Jensen 3" sized boiler to power it...maybe more?
Griffin, you asked about how big it is...the base is 8.5" long and the flywheel is 3.75" in diameter.
I'm not abandoning my toy steam roots, but a few machinist built pieces are a joy to behold!

I have a Stuart boiler on hand that I'm not going to use, if you decide to steam them. Give me a shout if you are interested. Nice bit of craftsmanship you have there... and another step toward "advanced steam engine addiction syndrome"
I've probably reached the terminal stages of the syndrome, having begun to build the darned things from scratch, using metal stock. God help us all....LOL

That is one nice not-so-little engine. I've love to get a Stuart beam or twin some day.
Just won't be some day soon
Great video.

I ditto, above comments.
btw- Rog one of these boilers would surely power that machine- (both boilers available from Model Components-
www.modelcomponents.com.au
3 " (same model I've got)
4 " model - can goto pressures upto 80psi
