My dear boy, I enjoyed that video. There was some funny fellow with a strange accent doing the narrative. Very good.
As the sandman says, make it shufty along a little.
Did the upgraded safety valve make a difference over the normal sv?
|
James
|
Aye it made quite alot of difference actually.
Hmm, it didn't move, cos it don't move
It's a shit model is mine.

James,
I watched all 4 minutes of that video waiting to see it drive...what the heck...it DOESN'T drive??? How come...tisn't very complicated drive mechanism...I really wanted to see it go as I am considering one myself, but wanted to see a stock one roll.
Come on, fix whatever's bugging it and get it rolling!!!

Hey James...how do you say it "rate as a bobin"...that SW1 did just fine, forwards and backwards, with and without it's body. If it is a bit stiff, maybe it just needs some running in...if leaking at the gaskets, whistle or control handle, might help to oil those surfaces with steam oil to help seal them.
BUT regardless, it looked grand...thanks for getting it going and filming it.
cheers,
Rog

It makes you feel dizzy watching that one keep going round
It ran well once it got going. Nice one
I hope you cleaned the oil of that floor before your Mum see's it.
|
James
|
No prob Rog.
Yeah I covered all the seals and joints in oil. I oiled it well aswell. Like you say, maybe more running in needed.
Any more engines you want vids of, just say.
Aye it was sound as a pound anall!
|
Chris
|
Doesn't go as well as I expected after seeing the earlier video of it running stationary.
Are the belts at suitable tension and wheels free running?
Maybe it just needs some running in and runs fine with no load but struggles more when it has work to do.
They are certainly nice things these SWs. Would like to get me one at some point.

Griff- Aye, best run I have had out of it. Me mother, well, she'll have to wait
Chris- Earlier it was running like a sack of shit. If you feel how heavy it is, and how much of a load it has on the little piston then you will be suprised just how well it ran. Better than most SW1s!

Nice one James. Don't see enough of them running here. I only watched the one with it moving. I went over my download limit, so have speed reduction till 1st May So everything is slow.
Hook up your air compressor and run it in, perhaps? Or just keep firing it.
I'm Still trying to get an SW1 Haven't got a postage price on the current one I am wanting

I know matey
With the insane postage quotes we get for OZ, I always have to ask first. Doesn't help when they don't reply
But then I re-read auction I was interested in, and it says "postage and handling must be paid by the winning bidder, the price will be determined after auction end" or some rubbish like that
|
James
|
Aye. It is crap.
One thing when I buy from America is every seller is nice and friendly. They quoted me $56 (£2 to send one of my engines over. I emailed them before they sent it and asked to sent it via the post office. They said ok then, took it to the post office, and it cost $30 (£15).
