TE1 boiler

I've finally gotten around to sorting out my TE1.  I need to repaint the boiler, is it worth bothering with etch primer or can I get away with just red primering it?

just rub it down with steel wool and repaint with heat resistant paint. if badly chipped it might have to stripped! etch priming is a waste of time because brass expands and contracts and this will weaken any paint over time.hense the old well baked and hard paint is the best ground to paint over rather than bare brass.

the boiler had been rubbed down to bare brass when I recieved it.  Its a bit late now though.  I sprayed the boiler with Halfords red primer and then airbrushed the new green paint on.  I will post pics in my new thread on the "restoration" bit.
