TE1 Canopy ClipSome time ago I got this TE1 which was incomplete, including no canopy. Using Manxman's great Mamod TE reference I've dated it as a 1965 - 1967 model.
Postings on these Forums advised me that the later TE1A canopy would not fit, as the canopy supports are different (although Chasteam does sell the earlier support), and the openings for the chimneys are different sizes.
These canopies go for near new prices on ebay, so I was pleased to win this early style canopy. Royal Mail took an incredible 18 days to deliver my cheque by 1st Class mail , but at least the item arrived, unlike a previous SEL item which has been declared lost, and that seller was kind enough to refund my money in full.
However, this brings in another variation to Manxman's reference. It is a ridged canopy with a flat opening for the chimney, using a metal clip (a dull steel one as opposed to a copper one) to secure it, which would seem to date it from 1965. However it has the lithographed sign on the side, but it is not fixed by rivets like the example in Manxman's reference. So this must date from earlier than 1972.
As you can see the clip is broken, and the purpose of this posting is to ask if a Forum member could post a good photo of these clips so that I can make a replacement (they are available from Chasteam but £2.50 plus £2.50 P&P is a bit much I think at present).
Thanks for looking at this posting, and I look forward to my request being suitably answered.

That canopy most likely came off a blue box TE1a originally, with a production run from 68-72. At a guess I would say it is from nearer the end of that run.

Both of mine are bent, so I'd like a picture too.

Kritika & Mamodman123 have recently posted their TE1's in the Collections Forum, and although I cannot see a clip on Mamodman123's, there is a perfect clip on Kritika's one.
May need to PM him to get a photo posted here.
Griffin Thanks for dating this canopy. Interesting that mine does not have any rivets on the signs (although there are holes for them in the sign), yet they appear later on the one that Manxman has in his reference, but that one had the raised rim around the chimney opening. Another Mamod oddity.
