TE1a Clean up

Started out with this:

Finished with something a lot like this:

I have a bottomless box to it too....Think I may pop her on ebay and see what she does  . Although its difficult to part with it when I spent a good few hours cleaning

Ok don't talk yourself out of this one... too late?
Les Marsh

Cor, she scrubbed up well.
She has cleaned up very well indeed.

Great work mate

I might have a Roller for sale soon that would take some restoring
You did a real fine job. My SR1A has the dull wheels not the shiny ones. I wonder if a real nice shiny one gets that much more than a run of the mill one though. You might choose it to display.

It does John! Polish the wheels, they'll come up good and wack it on ebay and people go nuts for them! Don't want to get their own hands dirty

All you need is a bit of wet and dry for the stubborn bits, brasso and a cloth
Sandman

Beautiful job MM.

That one will make it's money should you choose to flog it.
Nick

Look at those rear wheels!

Polished engines bring a lot more money. That's why I buy the dirty ones.
MTA

You have done a superb clean up job there MM.

Why can't I get mine to look like that

Do you use brasso on the firebox as well or do you use chrome polish?
Minor1PJG

Wow that's come up so well

I'm off to try the wet & dry on a dull flywheel.....

Just brasso, it won't work miracles its got to be good to start with!

Wheels should always come up, the only way I could get that any better is by skimming like 0.5mm off it

The roller wheels don't come up as good as the TE's unfortunately

I havent tried Semichrome on my Rollers wheels yet. If you have not tried that stuff you are missing out. Semichrome is in a class of its own for polishing.

Don't forget the same stuff in a different package, MAAS.
bessytractor

Steve_S

Great job MM... it's gleaming! It should do very well on eBay.
