Went over to Alans railway this afternoon (only down the road ) its called the 1 day railway because it was built in 1 day ;whispers; and it shows!
Me Toby going through Annieshalt
Allans Stainz
My Janes just steaming out of shot and leaving a cloud of steam
another attempt at that shot
another completley fouled shot
raising steam at Annieshalt
yet another fouled shot thanks to a well placed pole!
a meeting of relatives, just so you know my Jane is much more advanced with no mamod parts at all in the construction
Les
That's very good considering it only took a day to build.

wish I could build mine in a day....I do like the railway and the buildings!
I've got a long way to go before I even start mine....and a hell of a lot to learn!!!
its not fair "I want my railway NOW!!!"
Oh well just have to see if hubby and rest of the family get the BIG hint's of buildings and stuff I want for Christmas!!!
roll on the spring when I might just have enough to get me going...
anyone know the man who predicted the lottery results- I could do with a nice big WIN!!!!!! I'll let him cut the ribbon on the grand opening!!!! but then if I did win I think the train I'd buy would be a bit bigger...........maybe FULL SIZE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!well we can but dream!!!!

I love that station. The first photo had me look at it twice as it looked almost life size.
Great camera work Pauly

Looks more like a Railway than my One Day Railway does, a great place to run trains.

Here's my one day railway built very cheaply and quickly a couple of weeks ago. I was planning to build it outside but as winter is approaching I decided to build it in the garage instead. The winters out here in Michigan are very cold and brutal (had over 70 inches of snow last year!) so running indoors will be so much better. I might move it outside in the Spring.
It's just a simple oval about 15ft long x 9ft wide. Has 8ft diameter curves either end. It's certainly not as fancy as Alan's railway, no buildings or anything. Just a simple all-weather track for running live steamers.
It's only 20" off the ground but this is a nice comfortable height when sitting in a chair.

That looks remarkable similar in size to my track, except mine is just on the ground in the carport.

I am getting at the point where I want a full-time track setup. I'm looking at setting up an outdoor railway for Los Dos and my (as of yet) unnamed Ruby. Wife said "Shouldn't we work on stuff we actually need in the backyard, like plants?" I'm inclined to shrug it off! Looks good, both railways shown here.
tmuir
Tell her once the railway is in you won't need as many plants.

Plants and garden railways do go together, your wife could do the landscaping for you.

The idea is to let her think she is doing the Landscaping WITH you, the trains will set her plants of nicely

Here in Az., the plants are going to be minimal anyway. She really wants a vegetable garden and a tree. The railway would be elevated and not really come into conflict with these. It certainly won't affect the grass, since we aren't going to have any!

This is my One Minute Railway

been there again today with ferrysteam, I took me Torak and caradoc and he took his Wrekin and Wilma
now thats a lineup
Wrekin steaming up, there was an ongoing argument about Roundhouse and how great they are
my Caradoc having a go
more steamies waiting on the sideline
cooling down while Wilma has a go
took me ages to get this shot
and Torak was given a run
and just 1 more
and thats that, next time I go round Im gonna take me Vincent and some of my own stock
Les

Gear Drive
Pauly,
Do you have any idea what Gear Ratio "Wilma" has please, I
have a real soft spot for Gear Driven Loco`s especially if they
have Flywheels hanging out of the Glovebox!.

Iv just been to alans again for a couple of hours, I forgot the camera though
but it was still great! I took my Bachmann shay (I cant use it on my layout) and ran that for a while, those cylinders are so mesmerizing!
and I ran Vincent for a couple of gas fillups
it really comes into its own once its warmed up
on a nippy day Vincent is just fantastic because the steam leaves the funnel so saturated so it looks fantastic.
and I had great fun playing with his electrical trains as well.
the atmosphere was just so fun and friendly
and hopefully his mamod should be up and running again soon
