Oh lol, scratch the beam then, for me the best engine is 5000, smokey, clanks a lot but my lord turns out some stunning performences when driven and fired properly.

Can only speak to what I've operated, so it's a pretty limited sample set that I have.
At this point it has to be the Jensen 20.
I have nothing at all that comes close to it in detail, stoutness of construction, and power.
No doubt there are better engines out there (Jensen 50? ), but I can only speculate, and speculation isn't worth a pound of dross.

lol, we used to have a superb H15 in the same livery as your Arthur, but it left before my time. It was made in Eastleigh the same time as the full size by the works apprentices in 1915. As a result it goes like a rocket!!!

Deltics don't have cylinder heads. Those are crank cases!

What that tiny engine.
Look for my new post in the offtopic section for a decent size engine.

I bet it would do a decent job or running a stepper motor though.

I can't say which is my best. It seems to change depending on my mood. I guess, today, it would be my Auld Steam Roller, but over the last year it has changed a few times.
