The easy way to remove loco decalsi discovered this while cleaning up my loco, simpley rub on the decal with brasso,
it leaves a bit of a mark but cant be seen easily by the naked eye

If only you had told me ages ago when I was doing mine I used a blunt dinner knife and carefully scraped it off

I supose if you remove it thefore you keep the linning, but can apply nameplates!
I clean my stuff with white spirit, which leaves a top coat which i then wipe of with a wet piece of kitchen roll.

Be careful with that! strong stuff on some paints!
