I do not see how the weight of a pair of Fender Washers could make any difference at all, but...
Sorry for the long video, those are clips from over 45 minutes of running. The Bowman Locos do have longer run times than the Mamods

WOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOO

over 45 minutes run, and there was still water in the boiler and Meths in the burner, I bet this one could go an hour.
Nick
Very nice John! and the video was not too long, I think I could have watched the entire 45 minutes.
I can't wait to finally fire mine up.
Do you have a scale that measures smaller weight? I can weigh the lead weight in mine and see how close it is to the weight of your washers.
Nick
Just checked, and it weighs 4.2 ounces.
It really makes you wonder how much trouble the designers had until someone came up with the idea of putting some weight in the burner.

oh wow! good job!

Away she goes.

That's good news John, great to see it running as it should.

Great Result, John.
That's pretty quick now and I suspect that she'll only get faster
ozsteamdemon
Great runner , excellent story .
Roly Williams
WOW! It certainly goes with a vengence now
The centre of gravity must be pretty close to the front axle without the extra weight so that a small weight at the rear makes all the difference. It probably only needs the full weight if it's pulling a load.

That's great John... it certainly goes well now!

Sometimes when it takes a little effort. one appreciates things that much more.

When you wrote fender washer I thought of guitar parts.
It runs very well, John. You should be proud!

I like to watch every classic live steam toy loco running. So your video can´t be long enough! I feel pleased by seeing your Bowman 300 running like a treat! Most of the ancient toy train stuff is only displayed in a cabinet ,so people who run their classic locos are as rare as the clasic locos themselves. My old style engines "Rosie "and "Maggie" get some rails under their wheels ocassionally when I am at our clubtrack. I tellyou they run like a treat!
cheers Joe

I am glad you got it sorted out John

Can't wait to see that in person

stone the crows that sure flies! impressive
steamgranny
Hmmm...I've obviously missed whatever the problem was But there sure isn't one now & that little Bowman really flies, literally eating up the track!
Thanks for the link! Haven’t been on forum much recently & missed a lot. Agree, the bad wheel slip must have been very disconcerting & what a relief the cure was so simple. Good thinking!
Go little Bowman, go!
Dr. Rog
That is one amazing engine. I can't believe how much knowledge has been forgotten since it was made.
Runs for an hour, self extinguishes if it tips over, goes like a rocket, needs very little care in eighty years or so and as Mr Bowman was very proud of will run many miles without failure.
