The Woodrow Light Railway WeekendWelcome, my table is going to be a little different.
It will not be a display of my locos in the traditional sense, no you are going to the Woodrow Light Railway this weekend, youv been planning this trip for a long time and you hope to see most if not all of the WLRs steam motive power.
Your journey will begin tomorrow (Saturday) where you will begin your adventure at Hill Top Station.
Until then

You arrive at Hill Top Station on the midday passenger, you will be here for 2 days, today is the last day of the WLRs steam Gala and tomorrow will be normal operation.
The train you came in on is hauled by an aging 0-4-0 steam loco named Daniel and her makers plate reads Merlin.
You dont spend much time admiring her as you usually would of but the station yard is packed with locos for the Gala and you dont have much time to inspect them all.
A small green loco with no nameplates stands at the end of a siding, you ask a nearby worker and he says that her name is Coath and that ner nameplates where removed a while back during the railways attempt to sell her, when unable to find a buyer for this capable little loco they left the nameplates off.
The next loco in line is a bizzare German contraption of the name Vincent, a sewing machine of gears and chains, your sure she can haul heavy trains and probably make a decent racket while she does it!
At the platform theres a small vertical boiler loco named Idris, shes giving punters shorts footplate rides up and down the track.
With nobody lining up for a ride you ask for 1.
Ist a short trip down the line and back into the platform, you thank and driver and jump off the footplate.
another interesting piece in the yard was a visiting traction engine, brought down from a nearby county she is chuffing up and down the yard to entertain the visitors.
Just before you set off you take a quick look at 1 more loco in the yard, a small Victorian Marroon saddle tank loco by the name of Paul Jackson, shes a fine loco with finely polished paintowork and metal work, youv heard that she will be the loco which pulls the Evening Special to celebrate the last day of the Gala.
Speaking of which is soon, youv decided that instead of waiting here at Hill Top for the special youll take this opportunity to walk down the track to the next station and board it from there.
You arrive at the little halt and check your watch, itll be here soon...
PART 2 SOON...

While waiting at the small halt you decide to take a quick look at a nearby scrapyard that supposedly contained a few locos.
The Evening Special soon arrives and you flag it down.
Paul Jackson is a handsome loco, even more so at the head of a train.
You are soon underway.
You soon arrive at Woodrow station, a small goods is waiting in the passing siding hauled by Coath.
Due to some poor design the goods cant leave the station until the Evening Special has left.
After the brief stop the Evening Special leaves.
Which allows the goods to also leave.
The train enters the return loop and heads towards Hill Top Station.
You soon arrive at the idealic Hill Top Station.
The locos that where lined up earlier have gone and the Gala is over, the only movement is from a small deisel loco arranging wagons in the yard.
The sun is low and you are tired, you walk to the nearby village and fid a B&B for the night, you will return early tomorrow to catch an early railcar to Woodrow Station.
PART 3 TOMORROW...

You return to the station in the early morning to catch the railcar to Woodrow Station.
Its a slow and bumpy ride and you begin to wonder if youd been better of just walking there.
Nevertheless you soon arrive at your destination.
Now its just a matter of waiting fr the morning goods, youv made an arrangement with the guard so you can have a guard van ride up to Hill Top Station.
She soons arrives, a mixture of goods wagons with a Millie class loco on the front, shes the same class as the WLRs famous Torak but shes a totally different loco.
Lacking the sporty green paintjob and cab she is painted black and has no covered cab.
A simple reliable loco for goods, Millies are excellent locos for a variety of jobs, be it express passenger or heavy goods.
Her name is Victoria.
Speaking of her sister Torak her she comes now with the morning passenger.
The class sisters greet each other with shorts blasts from their high pitched Doncaster whistles.
Victoria soon sets of for Hill Top with her goods.
They could do with getting the PW crew out here.
She soons pulls into the Hill Top yard.
You thanks the guard and driver for their generousity and disembark.
With the goods delivered and no work for the next couple of hours the crew park her up and head off into the grounded coach for a cup of tea.
This is your last day and theres only a few more hours of it left, not enough time to go for another train ride but last night in the local pub you did here mention of another smaller 2 foot railway up in the hills, its a short trek and you could most certainly make it back for your evening train back.
Part 4 tonight

After a short walk you come across a narrow set of rails, soon a small scruffy loco comes into sight hauling a mish mash of wagons.
Unfortunatly the sun is setting and you dont have time for a ride on this charming little train.
You make it back to Hill Top Station at sunset.
Daniel, the same loco that brought you to this place shall be the same that takes you away.
Instead of the nice green coaches that you arrived in your journey back will be in some much older balcony coaches.
She les out a long tired moaning whistle and begins to takes the strain of the train, as she does you look out at Hill Top one last time.
You promise yourself that one day you will return to this strange little railway.
But thats for another day...
...another day.
THE END
I hope you lots enjoyed my little adventure, I know I enjoyed creating it, we havent had the best weather latley so some of those pics came out a bit dim.
But I hope i made up for it in the execution
If anyone has any questions about the railway or its stock please feel free to ask
