Thread sizes for Toy steam enginesAfter making a mistake in the Wanted Board with a couple of Bowmans thread sizes, , I think we need a thread where members and visitors can lookup thread sizes.
I'll start the ball rolling with the ones I know,
Post war Mamod
Safety valve 1/4" BSF or 3/8" BSF depending on the model
Whistle 1/4"BSF, all types
Water level plug 3/16" BSF all types
Wick burners 3/8" BSF
Whistle handle thread 6BA
Cylinder block thread 6BA
SE3 flywheel screw (not grub screw) 4BA.
Pre war Mamod
Safety valve, 1/4" BSF
Whistle, slightly larger than 1/4" BSF ???
Water level plug, 6BA ?
Wick burners screw and collar 1/4" BSF
SEL
Safety valve, 0BA
Whistle, 3BA
Water level plug, BA3
Bowmans
Safety valve, 1/4" BSF
Water level plug, 6BA
Burner screw and collar 1/4" BSF
Other sizes or corrections anyone knows would be great
Hopefully the mods can make this a sticky and it would be good if it wasn't cluttered up with inappropriate posts.
Cheers
Chris

Looks like a good candidate for the steam reference library section. I'm sure somebody here could confirm the Jensen and Wilesco sizes.

Yes once we have a complete list we can edit it all together and put it in the steam ref library.
On a side note Jensen SV's fit Scorpion steam engines too.

Interesting on your thoughts about the pre-war whistle. A few people have said a regular mamod whistle would fit, but it doesn't in mine.
MF has just made a few bowman whistles which are the same so he should know!
This should be made sticky in the reference library

Wilesco whistle with chain will also screw on Renown.

Jensen SV's/whistles fit on Robert Fulton engines.

Thank you for starting this- I do not have a great knowledge of all the various thread variations or if much or a lot of standardization is present in the world of steam engines and components!!
Hurray...

Same with my SE3, the whistle and the SV are not interchangeable, maybe deliberately so, so the user didn't make the mistake of trying to put the SV in the whistle hole. If it was the same the small holes and the washer at the bottom of the whistle hole may have stopped or limited the SV from working properly

I've asked him to to check my figure on all the stuff and make additions/corrections as necessary.

Once I get everyone's imput I will combine everything and put it in the library board, giving credit to all the contributors, then get a mod to make it a sticky. The original thread in the Tech Board can then be left to fade away
