Hi,
I'm just finishing a Dolls House for my eldest daughter, the kitcjhen has this effect flooring. It is a plastic sheet which we obtained from the 'Dolls House Emporium'. It looks the part as well. To be honest I'm quite pleased with it and had the thought of using it for some steam related model.
You will need to be careful though as they do it in plastic and paper, so you will need to ensure you buy the correct one, but the plastic is good at around a Fiver. The size of the sheet was approx 14" sq - here's the link.

Hope this helps, they will send over seas and they have recently won recognition for thier service quality.
By the way, have a good luck at the doll's houses, they are brilliant !!
Hope this helps

I suppose if you isolated the burner and firebox from the plastic it might work.
Then too it could all go up in a blaze of glory.
Make sure your video is running.

It does not say if it is plastic or metal.
I have asked the seller what it's made of.

Stitch,
I also have found a guy, at a Dolls House Fair that I take the kids to, with some rubberised flooring.
This stuff was red brick in a Herring bone effect, a much larger sheet, about 12" x 24". The Material is like rubberised with cloth inpregnated into it, looks more durable that the stuff above but sells at 16 GPB a sheet.
He was a stall holder, I have no contact details, I guess that this is a better solution in reagrds to 'Elf n Saftey'
If I do use this for a project I'll let you know how I get on - Ok I will use it , its just getting round to it !!
Cheers

He says it is metal.
He won't ship to the US.
I believe someone is going to get a nice piece of flooring.

for the flooring on my steam plant I used real tiles. I picked up 4 X 1' square mosaque tile sheets off ebay for about £23 and bonded them to my base. Weights a ton with engine and boiler etc attached but is very affective and 100% head, oil and waterproof.

I'm not sure what that equates to.
What is the actual size of each tile?

the size of each connected mat of tiles is 1 foot. the tiles on the mat are usualy around 1 inch or so. so I cut them off the backing and bonded them streight to a board.

I'll bet it looks nice. Might be a little hard on the head, though!

Along with excellent information sharing, it's what we do best.
It keeps the conversation light and interesting.
One big happy family.
