To restore or not to restore? MM1 disk crank type

Howdy ya'll

I don't know what to do with this engine

I like it the way it is, it has character, lots of character!

What do you all think?

Chris

I was thinking leave it until I scrolled down and saw the base.

Problem is if you just redid the base then the rest of it would look weird.

I dunno James. I would be tempted to leave it and use it.
joiner

Sell it to me
James

Aye Chris!

It's a nice little engine
Sandman

Do this with it Jimbo.

James

Looks good Sandy!

I don't really like restored engines in my own collection personally

I love looking at other people's, but I don't like owning them. No idea why

Like Poppy, I don't really like the paint I did on her!
Chris

Do you ever find time to do anything except polishing your brass?
James

LMAO!!!
Lewis

id leave it james give it a good clean up
Mamodman123

Leave as is, steam it and enjoy it
steamyjim

LEAVE IT!!!!!!

Full of charm i much prefer it like that
Steve_S

I'd leave it alone. As you say it has lots of character. If you leave it you still have the choice later.... once it's done, it's done.
James

Great point Steve!

If I had to restore it, I'd probably pay somebody like yourself, Sandy, MM, Mooseman, Rog etc etc to do it properly for me
Mamodman123

Bases I can do but not fireboxes
James

I can do both, but I would cock it up knowing it was for myself

well im looking for one of those engines, and james it is beutiful,im a man who doesnt clean mine i think they look far better uncleaned, unlike the aus ebay, they are so shiny and new looking, must be a few cleaners out in the bush some where ,maybe i should look one up
Wallace

James, I would leave it. Of course, in the end it's up to you

It's an old engine, has charm, and I like it.

Just clean it and run it, then clean it again

It's all about personal preference

I prefur them clean, although if they have original laquer in good condition then I keep the boilers as they are
