Toy Steam Web ring home pageAt the moment if you click on the home button on the webring it takes you to my site but I would rather have a site that just lists all the sites on the webring and maybe just a short blurb about how the webring is about providing an easy way for people to navigate the web who want to find information about toy steam.
Maybe have some small pictures across the bottom of one engine from as many different countries as possible to show its international.
Then my web site would just become another website the same as everyone else.
What does everyone think about that idea?

I'll have a bit more of a think about it over the next week and see about putting something together as I don't want this to be my webring but as something that can help link all our related sites together with all sites on equal footing.
Also if you have an engine that you think typifys all engines made in a particular country and would be willing to have it up on the webring hompage post it here.
I will be probably shrinking the pictures down to no bigger than 200 by 100 or maybe smaller so make sure its a picture that will work that small.
I only want one from each country so if I get more than 1 from each country I may put it up to a vote.

Sounds sensible to me. Thanks for the unseen efforts to improve the Forum.

No problem.
I've just felt uneasy about my personal website been the home page for the webring as I considered that a bit self serving and not really fare
I set it as that when I first created the webring as I didn't have anything else to put there.
I thought about making the forum the homepage but decided a list of all the sites on the forum and a blurb about what the webring is about would be better as hopefully that may attract other members to the ring especially if I make the point its about any brand or countries steam toys.

I agree, a short blurb about what the Web Ring is all about and maybe a link tot he individual pages, there are a few now,, the number is growing. Many people like to look at the pictures, and maybe read descriptions of specific models ( that is what I often do when preparing to bid on something on Ebay ) My site is not all that great, but some of the sites are actually quite educational.
I visit Rogs page frequently as he does have a lot of information on it.

I must admit when I was first starting out I used to visit Rogs and Mooses site a lot before I even knew who they were.

I will let those guys know the difference between a late SE1A and an early SE1A or other such item, when I need the info those guys have it there for me. But isnt that part of what it is all about, the sharing of information. That and making quality friends.
