Two Engines Arrived Today! The first actually came Saturday, but I wasn't home. The post office is closed Sundays and yesterday was Columbus Day, so I had to wait until this morning to pick it up.
Opening it up:
I see a flywheel:
Tags that were on the base:
And it's not a steam engine:
I've wanted a hot air engine for awhile, but decided to wait for an older one. I'm not sure if the base is original because the other Plank ones I have seen have a larger base with firebox.
But it does run! (video later, hopefully running some accessories)
And this second one was dropped off minutes ago:
Have you guessed what it is yet?
I'm not sure either. I am pretty sure it's a Schoenner or a Falk, but I can't read the letters stamped into the base:
The letters are in between the 2 "Made in Bavaria" stamps:
More pics (will hopefully run this tonight after work:
It will eventually need a new sight glass and a burner made:

I would love to get more, but I don't like their prices.

The overtype is a Falk engine.
One of the later ones where the upper part of the chimney in not made of a fine steel mesh but from sheet metal

It runs! I didn't have much time, so I'll make a better video at a later date. It has a few things that need some work. My camera battery died just as I was trying to find the whistle.

Such a good and smooth runner, real quality built in to those old engines
Btw, found a picture of how the rest of that Plank hot-air engine should look.

Do you know the owner of the pictured engine? I'd love to get a few measurements.
I do have the lineshaft, so that would be very easy to duplicate and the firebox wouldn't be too hard.

I found this picture at an auction site, so I don't know the owner.
The engine was made in different sizes, from the smallest model 333 without a lineshaft up to the biggest model 338 including a lineshaft. The 335 which is on the picture seems to be the most common one. The model dates from 1902-1903.
The meausrements I have for the baseplate of these models are
335 - base 29x14cm
336 - base 32x19cm
338 - base 41x? cm.
Looking forward to see it come to life again
