Two Wilesco driven models one very rare

Hi

I was lucky and got three driven models from ebay for a fair price. Here are two of them. The third is very special and in a new thread

Wilesco M78 "Grinder"

The model was produced between 1968 and 1972 as far as I know. The "new" M78 is a forging hammer. The model is very rare.

Wilesco M66 "Dynamo"

It is the old heavy metal model not the new plastic thing. They are not as rare as the old M78 "Grinder" but normally rather expensive.

Oh yes. I am happy  Dancing banana

So you should be.
I have seen that grinder go cheap here, I didn't know it was rare.
Next time I'll grab it!

Congratulations, I knew the grinder is rare and I do not think many of us on the forum has one.

What's the problem, Jake?
No output?
Explain and we'll try to help you.

Three things seem to affect light output from generator/lamp setups:
1) wiring is good, nothing shorting out against bare metal that shouldn't
2) generator is operated at high enough speed
3) proper bulb is used

#3 is a major factor in my mind...I have tested a lot of bulbs in optimizing the generator output of my Jensen 51 replica and found the following:

#131 bulb requires the least rpms, least voltage and least amps for a bright output...but burns out quick if too much volts or amps
#352X bulb requires a bit more
#14 bulb requires still more but is pretty robust in resisting burnout

These bulbs are most easily found on the internet....one source I have used:  www.bulbtown.com.  Postage is usually more than the price of many bulbs, so if ordering thru these folks get 4 or 5 of each type...they are so light postage doesn't change unless you are ordering dozens of them!

Nice Info on the accessories Klauss.
I think I may have one of those metal bodied dynamo's.

light output looks in the milliwatt range!

i suspect belt slippage or insufficient speed.

i will try & pick up a pic from photobucket later.

the mk1 d10 & baseboard & m66 picture is on my stwww post!

is there an ideal distance from spindle to spindle on a 2,5mmx250mm wilesco drive belt?

ah-here is the picture
