Photo 5 for the EOM entry
Those are just too cool, I do believe that before the summer is over I will contact the man about one of those, and yes folks, I like the Vertical.
I hope to see the pair in operation together when Andrew can get the Video Camera going. The Granite sets them off nicely too.

Richard, I think you win hands down for having the most beautiful backdrop to feature an engine against (let alone two)...you will enjoy!
One pointer on the Lilliput...do NOT push the burner all the way in so it goes under the stack...it lets too much heat escape and won't run well. Center the flame about under the middle of the boiler. I found a millimeter for or aft can change the speed significantly. You also might want to run them on a very still day outside or do it inside so flame doesn't get blown around. 6 ml of distilled in the boiler and 3-4 ml of meths in the burner did the trick for me.
Dualing PhilCraft pieces...that is pretty neat!!

Thanks Rog,
Believe it or not this is a lesson I remember from your thread.
Do you use distilled water for all your engines? I noticed Phil recommends it for these. The Marklin 16051 wants a mixture of 95% distilled and 5% tap water.
None of the Mamod's say anything on this subject.

Yes Richard...I use distilled water for all my engines and always have. I live in an area very close to where all the limestone was mined for the Empire State building and a host of Washington type structures.
We must have once been the bottom of a sea because our water is so hard you can SEE the calcium floating in it. We don't mind drinking it as it is plenty clean, but we soften the water for the rest of our use.
I am fortunate to buy distilled water at Walmart for 67 cents US per gallon...no white film buildup ever in sight glasses or around fittings. Interesting that the Marklin specifies 5 % tap water...I can't quite understand why, but I suppose one should follow directions!!

Wow, those are gorgeous. Won't crowd the shelf, either.
Why, you could put one on a chain and wear it!

We have no potable water supply.
We collect all the rain water that falls on the roof in two large cisterns under the house
This is part of what makes housing so expensive here. If you want a three bedroom house you have to build five and fill two of them with water.
Amazingly the water quality is very high. Providing you keep the gutters and cisterns clean, the rain has just crossed 4,000 miles of open ocean and is of very high purity. Neither hard nor soft. Add a UV filter and it's probably higher quality than most city water.
Nevertheless, I will take your advice and use distilled water from now on.

Underneath one half of my 2 car garage sits 18000 gallons of rain water, you dont have to live in the VI to use a cistern for water. No calcium, but I do filter it for any airborne pollutants that might be out there.

A new concept in Bling. Imagine if you could fire it at the same time.

Yes, available only at those expensive, upscale stores for the more discriminating
steam collector.
"Fire it at the same time?" I think Richard Prior tried to do that once.
