Visitor at my front door

I am accustomed to seeing stray Cats and Dogs come to my front door and beg for food, but the Cats at my door today are black Cats with White Stripes! I am honestly worried about even opening the door, sorry no pictures as opening the door to see them gets them excited. What to do?
James

Phone Postman Pat and ask him if he's lost Jess
Mamodman123

Black cats? Leave them well alone, bad luck
James

Tell me about it. We've had two stray black cats and a stray black and white one turn up. We've took them all on and they're all as tame as anything now    Look what bad luck I have
benchmark

go close to the door and bark wildly like a manic rottweiler , that should scare em off for good.

Must be terrible living in a huge house with about 5 fields
James

A huge house? More like a small shithole with 3 fields

Do those white stripes go straight back from head to tail, and the cats have a bad (worse than usual) odor?
Bugsy

Were they black with white stripes or white with black stripes?
Did they look like this?

johnreid

THey look like these fellows
MrMamod

James

One has been struck by a passing Car, right in front of the house, it is fragrant
I still have two that are at the front step. I hope they leave, soon. I am not stepping out of the house till they do.
logoman

orphans, knocking on the door in hope of a bit to eat.

Use the back door.

The irony is skunks are easily tameable, and make great pets... descented of course.  They are close relatives of ferrets, and have similar personalities.  My aunt is a biologist, and has one that lives on here property, and is quite friendly to people, and awfully cute.  Named Flower (of course).

But I would say John is doing the fight thing,  If they think there is food and shelter, they will never leave!  I think the cat might have issue with this.
kusuchi

Open the door, John!

You can rest assured that none of your neighbors will coming around for weeks to instruct you on your political opinions!

Alternately, get a Great Horned Owl!
GUTMACH

Fragrant ! Four legged stink bombs is more like it ! Years ago at San Diego Military Academy, one of those little stinker lit off in a classroom's storage room, that place was useless for a couple of weeks.

Feel sorry for John, what did he do to deserve that ?

Could you perhaps find a black cat, paint a white stripe on it, and perhaps the others will be attracted? Or have I watched too many cartoons

On a serious note, I feel sorry for you John. I know we have some deadly creatures over here, but none really hold you hostage in your own house. I hope they go soon.

We get a US show over here and it's all about people that remove such animals. Removal of a skunk was in one of the episodes. Is there someone you could call locally?

Why so you can tie them to the front of the landy and use them instead of a horn.

They would certainly get the pedestrians moving.

Never knew you could have a pet skunk , i must admit they do look nice though. Still there is the smell, incidently foxes are quite smelly too due to the violet gland at the base of their tail. I think Igy569 made a good point about cats as they can be territorial and probably wouldn't take to kindly to two skunks.
Ross

What do they actually smell like?

Dunno what they smell like but I daresay if you ate one, it would taste 'a lttle bit like chicken'

That's what I was thinking!

Just let them in, they will soon get used to the smell
johnreid

I am thinking that they have wandered off
tmuir

Just make sure they aren't hiding under your step waiting to surprise you.
